Last week I attended the #solarplazasummit in Lisbon, where I attempted to answer the question "Should every solar plant include energy storage?" in ten minutes (no mean feat!). For those of you unable to attend, here's a sneak peak at my (not totally unexpected) conclusion: ..."it depends". But what does it depend on? 💸 Evolution of revenue streams: Will Portuguese assets be able to participate in a future Spanish Capacity Market? How will solar cannibalisation and curtailment affect solar revenues? 💰 Costs: Will battery CAPEX drop? Will there be subsidies available like in Spain? ☀ How much solar will enter the market? How will that affect curtailment and solar capture prices? We are pleased to share the achievement of the construction and energization of the Solar Park "Petalo de Cordoba II" of 9.9 MW in Chinu, Cordoba. This project has an area of 26 hectares, with a system of 217 solar trackers, and a total of 22,568 bifacial PV panels. This is expected to achieve an annual reduction of approximately 15,000 Tn of CO2 emissions, and will supply around 19 million KW/h of clean electric energy, which will satisfy the electric needs of more than 8 thousand local homes. In this way, we demonstrate our commitment to the country's energy transition, contributing to the construction and development of new energies, as represented in this project in the photovoltaic industry, highlighting our sunlight resource, which is considered one of the best in Latin America. #RenewableEnergy #EnergiasRenovables #SolarEnergy #PhotovoltaicIndustry #Colombia

In 2023, 14 EU-27 markets installed more than 1 GW of solar in a year. According to SolarPower Europe estimates, these markets are Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, France, Austria, Belgium, Greece, Hungary, Sweden, Bulgaria, Romania and the Czech Republic. In 2024, the top 5 markets are expected to keep their relative positions. SolarPower Europe's Agrisolar Best Practices Guidelines are now available in Japanese ☀ 👨🌾   The Best Practice Guidelines were originally developed by SolarPower Europe's Land Use and Permitting Workstream, detailing guidance for the deployment of sustainable #AgriPV practices for solar industry stakeholders. Exciting developments in the Dutch solar energy sector! The growth the Dutch solar energy sector has experienced in recent years is remarkable. It's no coincidence that the Netherlands has quickly gone from a laggard to a world champion in solar power capacity per capita. This achievement is particularly noteworthy for a country with relatively limited sunshine and land area. However, this success also means that the Netherlands, as one of the first countries to adopt solar energy on a large scale, faces unique challenges in integrating solar power into the energy system.
