The World Health Assembly is underway this week, with a final draft of the global pandemic treaty under the spotlight. As the draft treaty process got started last year, we shared the principles needed for it to be effective, based on our Pandemics for the Real World report. These included that: ➡️ Pandemics are social and political phenomen – not just medical ➡️ Effective responses need to balance global health concerns with people’s diverse social, political and economic realities ➡️ Avoiding the centralised, surge-style, measures favoured by international agencies and national governments. one-size-fits-all models were found wanting not only on the grounds of effectiveness, but also of social justice. Will the final treaty live up to them? Read the Pandemics for the Real Word report for more on what the evidence says is needed for effective #PandemicPreparedness https://lnkd.in/e3cxbNru #WHA77

Everyone, it's crucial to pay attention to this message until the end. This is not a partisan issue; it will impact every American. The US is heading to The Summit for the Future on Sept 22 & 23. The objective is for the US to relinquish power to the UN and their future alliance with the World Health Organization and global elites seeking global governance. If the US agrees to this, we will no longer maintain our sovereignty. #USPolitics #GlobalGovernance #Sovereignty

The 77th World Health Assembly was supposed to celebrate the adoption of an historic pandemic treaty. Yet after 2 years, negotiations in Geneva collapsed amid sharp divisions and distrust. Is the pandemic treaty really dead? Lawrence Gostin, a member of the World Health Organization Review Committee on the International Health Regulations, who has been actively supporting WHO and the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body on the Pandemic Agreement, makes a case for the importance of continued negotiations, and how reaching an agreement would make everyone safer and the world fairer. 🌍 🌎 🌏 Free read online now in Nature Medicine https://lnkd.in/g7qAdjam #pandemic #globalhealth #COVID19 #governance #worldhealthassembly

The United Nations recently convened its second high-level meeting on #antimicrobialresistance (AMR). ⤵️ The Political Declaration adopted by the UN provides an opportunity to support urgent and meaningful action against AMR, particularly for the world's most vulnerable communities. 👉 By recognizing the importance of diagnostics, strengthening health systems, establishing an independent panel, and fostering public-private partnerships, the declaration will lay a solid foundation for progress over the next 5 years. https://lnkd.in/ezpx9GSW
