As an HR leader and coach to C-suite executives, I resonate with this post from Hacking HR and JB Pritzkers speech asserting that the smartest person in the room is often the kindest. Throughout HR my career, I have encountered leaders who proudly proclaim themselves as “the smartest” in their organization. While their impressive education and credentials may justify such claims, their actions and attitudes often betray a different reality. Cruelty and toxicity in leadership erode respect and undermine the value one brings to the table. I’m honored for being witness to those who have unlocked this misconception for themselves doing the work . Leadership is about more than just intelligence. True smartness lies in kindness, empathy, and the ability to inspire and uplift others. It’s about being a cornerstone of support and a beacon of positivity within your company.
