Can you remember your parents and teachers telling you — ‘watch what you are doing’, ‘stop daydreaming’, and ‘listen to what I am saying’? You learned from them to believe that focusing is the best way to attend the world. You carry this belief throughout your busy life, making a lot of effort to pay attention and avoid distractions. Yet, have you ever realised that focusing is intertwined with ignoring? To focus on something, you must neglect the rest and push it out of your conscious awareness. In other words, from the early stage of your life, you have been conditioned to ignore a big part of your reality, which is constantly present, the background. And now you can be so focused on a problem or a goal that you push everything (or everyone) else out, and we stop noticing it. Sadly, it can happen to your children, loving partners, your health, your real passions, or everyday life, and you are not aware of the passing years. What about opening your focus a bit and bringing the whole life to your conscious awareness? 🤔

🌟 As you brighten your classrooms again after a well-earned break, it's time to ease back into your routine! 👩🏫 Transitioning back to early mornings and schedules can be a challenge, but we’re all in it together! Here are some top tips for you to hit the ground running: 💤 Prioritise sleep: Establish a consistent bedtime routine. It doesn’t need to recover straight away but gradually bring bedtime forward and limit screen time before bed. According to a PLOS article, more than two hours of screen time in the evening can lead to sleep deprivation. 🤔 Learn from the past: Do you remember how your previous term went? What could you build on to make things smoother and what parts were you proud of? Practice makes perfect, the more you do things the easier it gets. 🧠 Plan engaging activities: Students can be overstimulated or lose momentum in their break. By planning engaging activities, such as verbal projects, presentations or incorporating physical activity, you can make learning enjoyable and foster a positive classroom atmosphere. I have always been an early riser, since childhood. My school bus would come at 6:30am, therefore I had to wake up at 5:15am. And, since we had school six days a week, over the years it turned into a habit. This habit is not something that was built in a few days or few months. This habit is an outcome of repeatedly following a routine for 14 years, from pri-primary to Grade 12, and then carrying it through college years and beyond. Habits take time. If you want to build exercise as a part of your daily routine, you have to practice it regularly, so that it becomes a part of you and your daily routine. #nutritioncoaching #habitcoaching #mindsetmatters
