The exact moment when it dawned on me that being a Presenter wasn’t really my cup of tea… Even though I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of interviewing football legend Ian Holloway, I came to a realisation that I preferred operating behind the camera rather than in front of it. ⭐️ Sometimes you’ve got to discover what you don’t want before you know what you do want. You live and learn. Here are my five key takeaways from the man who took both Blackpool Football Club and Crystal Palace Football Club up from the Championship to the Premier League… 1. Failure can be a stepping stone to success but only if lessons are learned 2. Wake up every morning and be thankful for what you have 3. Never fall into the trap of living / working within the limitations of others’ expectations (Four Four Two 👀) 4. Building a team around a set of shared values and goals is a prerequisite of success 5. Always keep the receipts and ensure your expenses sheet is updated regularly 😉 #CumulativeAdvantage #PositiveMindset #CompetitiveEdge #TeamBuilding #Gratitude

I am always surprised by the amounts businesses pay for marketing and advertising... and sponsorship or advertising with a football club has never been a consideration! Even a club like ours, we can deliver an audience in the millions for what is on paper a very small investment! Sport is often either not thought about when choosing a method or too expensive, as it is only the the "big" clubs who can deliver the audience required! We have a video on TikTok which gained over 3million views! #devonbusiness #exeter #exeterbusiness #northdevon #business #football #entertainment #hospitality #digitalmarketing #marketing #socialmedia #branding #advertisingandmarketing

Recently, I have been discussing the concept of compactness in relation to Manchester City's success in the Premier League. What caught my attention after the Champions League final was the realization that being compact is not only important when we are off the ball, but it is also crucial in maintaining positional control and creating opportunities when we have possession of the ball. The distance between players and the formation of triangles, diamonds, and other shapes are essential in providing solutions for the team when in possession. This enables easier ball retention, increased speed, and makes it more challenging for the opposing team to defend and track the ball. Therefore, compactness is not limited to defensive play; it is equally valuable in offense. By incorporating drills and exercises focused on compactness during training sessions over an extended period, teams can enhance their game plans and increase their chances of winning. Examples of top teams like Manchester City and Real Madrid demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach. #REALMADRİD #manchestercity #ucl

America and the EFL: What does it mean for the fans? ⚽️ Interest in the EFL (English Football League) has skyrocketed in the U.S., with CBS signing a multi-year TV deal to broadcast matches to American audiences. 🇺🇸📺 Over 20 EFL clubs have been invested in by Americans.🇺🇸 Celebrities at games, Disney documentaries... But what does it all mean for the fans on the ground? Tom Brady’s involvement with Birmingham City FC has been making headlines. The NFL legend’s partnership with Knighthead Capital Management, LLC has brought global attention to the club, sparking optimism among supporters. 🏈⚽ Our own Sam Ucko reached out to Birmingham journalist Alex Dicken get his thoughts: "The landscape at Birmingham City has completely changed since Knighthead took control of the club last year. Relegation in their first season wasn’t part of the plan, but it hasn’t decelerated their ambitions. Blues have just enjoyed their biggest transfer spend since 2017 and are well equipped to attack the Championship when they return. Knighthead have attracted several high-profile partners to the club to increase revenue, and there is the promise of a new super stadium in the background. These are exciting times for Blues fans.” But let’s look at some attendances since American owners have come in: Wrexham AFC: 19/20: 4,058 → 23/24: 13,152 (A 224% increase!) Birmingham City FC: 22/23: 16,758 → 23/24: 27,327 (A 63% increase!) Leeds United: 22/23: 36,566 → 23/24: 36,495 (Holding steady) Portsmouth Football Club: 16/17: 16,823 → 24/25: 20,265 (A 21% increase) Fans are embracing the changes, clearly optimistic about both short and long-term success. What’s your view on the growing influence of American ownership in football? ⚽ 💶 The solidarity contribution in football is calculated based on the agreed transfer fee. The agreed transfer fee for calculating the solidarity contribution does not include certain additional payments or clauses such as: ➡ Performance-related bonuses: payments based on the player's future performance (e.g., goals scored or appearances). ➡ Add-ons or conditional fees: extra fees that depend on future events (e.g., team success, player milestones). ➡ Training compensation: separate from the transfer fee, paid directly to the clubs for player development.
