I'm proud of our team on the launch of our agency's new blog series! We are focusing on Energy Resilience to start and I wanted to share a quick recap here: (1) US-based VC investment in 2023 hit $32 billion, with most deals going to transportation, energy, and food and land investments >> that's about 4,000 deals! We think this healthy mix of investment across the top sectors remain bullish. (2) Cool to see ESG leaders like Patagonia pledge to be net-zero across its entire business by 2040, eliminate virgin petroleum fiber from its products by 2025, and ensure 100% reusable, compostable or renewable/recyclable packaging by 2025. (3) We are all enjoying the benfits of the IRA in the US but what about globally? China plans to increase renewable energy electricity generation to 33% by 2025 -- and the EU is on target to reach 45% by 2030. (4) With 55% of US adults believing that a business should take a public stance on Climate, there is a significant push to develop a real strategy, publicly state reduction goals, and then determine the best execution plan. We focus our clients' strategies on value-driven storytelling. Stories that resonate are those that revolve around the collective good, a your brand’s commitment to a sustainable future. We are all in this together and we want to hear from you! Please share your perspectives with us. 🙏 Gratitude to Nathan Rosenstein, Leslie Bane Petry, Alyssa Birchfield, and Bruce Levins for this new initiative!

At Sol Systems, we've seen firsthand how critical Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) are for advancing a sustainable future. However, the World Resource Institute (WRI) is considering proposals that could upend market-based solutions driving renewable energy adoption. These new rules could collapse the incentives driving the clean energy transition and impede the ability for companies to procure renewables. We urge all stakeholders to emphasize practical evidence and support frameworks that integrate carbon intensity into reporting, offer flexibility in emissions reduction claims, and reframe ‘additionality’ and ‘emissionality’ as a disclosure feature to allow for transparency and flexibility. Together, we can motivate the clean energy transition and achieve our climate goals. Download our comprehensive white paper for an in-depth look at how these policies could impact the clean energy transition. Join the conversation and help shape a sustainable energy future. What is electrification - and why should it be our goal? By 2050, the world aims to achieve #CarbonNeutrality. This vision demands a grand shift to #electrification - swapping out coal, oil, and gas for the clean, renewable energy of solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal. Imagine a world where our cars, homes, and industries are powered not by fossil fuels, but by green electric energy. Thanks to technological advances, this green electricity isn’t just eco-friendly, it’s also becoming more affordable than traditional energy sources. Electrification is our path to a cleaner economy, purer air, and smarter cities. It’s the key to unlocking a #sustainable future, but only when we power our lives entirely with renewables. That's why Hej Coffee is proud to have made the switch to a fully electric fleet for our deliveries, charged with renewable energy. The road to Net Zero is a long one - but it's a goal we believe in. What steps towards electrification are you taking?

Yuri Horwitz and his company Sol Systems did great work synthesizing the importance of market based instruments in GHG Accounting. Here are three key take aways, but please read and distribute this paper. (1) Market based instruments (EACs) are CRITICAL, (2) the misguided binary "additionality" tests for GHG accounting, (3) the importance for time and location data for Scope 2 and 3 Accounting and how this data will facilitate emissionality and hourly matching claims.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) highlights in a report released today that tripling global renewable energy capacity by 2030 is achievable, but only if we can build or modernize 25 million kilometers of electricity grids and add 1500 GW of storage. To do this we'll need policies that not only streamline permitting but also facilitate faster and more transparent grid connection processes. Establishing clear standards and timelines for both is essential to accelerating deployment, enhancing grid stability, and achieving our climate goals. Efficient permitting and grid access aren’t just procedural steps—they’re crucial enablers of a sustainable energy future.
