BlackRock is forecasting rapid growth for transactions that allow banks to shed risk in their loan portfolios as tougher capital rules take hold. That gives banks an incentive to shed risky assets, or build capital levels, or both. Banks are typically the best option for funding high quality, illiquid assets so why create additional expense and complication by demanding complete risk transfer? Many asset portfolios are heterogenous and are difficult to sell - to say nothing of the accounting headaches!  Not every derivative is a 'weapon of mass destruction.' Synthetic Securitizations allow a bank to originate and service the reference loan portfolio as before, without the messiness of an asset and servicing transfer, while informed, institutional investors have an opportunity diversify their credit portfolios into new assets. #SRT #Credit_Risk_Transfer #Private_Credit
