I look forward to meeting you and discussing the Future of Mobility and Utilities: - Key Innovations for the Energy Cloud and UK's Transition to Net Zero - Wireless EV Charging & Vehicle to Grid ... Teaser of my industry opinion: As we stand on the brink of a transformative era in electric vehicle (EV) technology, the shift towards a more sustainable, efficient and interconnected energy ecosystem is tangible. The integration of Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging (WEVC) systems with Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capabilities represents an exciting convergence for the automotive and energy sectors. This synergy not only brings us closer to net-zero emissions goals by leveraging massive energy storage capacity, but also improves grid resiliency, providing a comprehensive solution to today's energy challenges. ... Seamless connection: Beyond Charging Habits A key advantage of wireless EV charging is its ability to maintain a constant connection to the energy cloud, regardless of the battery's state of charge. With traditional charging methods, users often avoid the hassle of plugging in, especially when the battery is sufficiently charged. WEVC technology eliminates this barrier, ensuring that vehicles are always ready to both receive and contribute energy, fostering a more efficient and responsive energy ecosystem. ... TCO optimization and revenue generation opportunities will also be discussed at the event. #OptimalCharging #WirelessCharging #EVInfrastructure #Utilities

Congratulations Cherie Gordon, City of Fort Worth Economic Development on being recognized by City leadership for your role in bringing the new Siemens manufacturing facility to #FortWorth late last year. Thank you for all that you do! Siemens has committed to creating 167 full-time jobs by December 2024, ramping up to more than 700 jobs by December 2026, and maintained over a minimum 10-year period. Operations are expected to begin in early 2025. The plant is expected to play a key role in advancing smart building, advanced energy, and artificial intelligence industries. The Fort Worth site represents nearly 30% of the company’s $500 million investment in critical infrastructure manufacturing in the U.S. in 2023. Fort Worth’s work with Siemens reflects broader efforts by the city to recruit projects that support a reshoring of domestic manufacturing supply chains—especially for critical materials. This approach has coincided with the federal government’s prioritization and investment in similar initiatives, especially across smart manufacturing technologies and high-performance computing. The Siemens facility adds to Fort Worth’s manufacturing cluster, which is driving toward more advanced manufacturing processes and products while leveraging (and adding to) the region’s technical and engineering workforce. The project received a 2023 Impact Award in #AdvancedManufacturing from Business Facilities magazine: https://lnkd.in/gGG_spst. Cherie Gordon Robert Sturns William M. This article presents a consistent theme of #datacenters being built at a rapid clip but the concern that #cleanenergy is not available to supply them. What is unique about Georgia Power and other #regulatedutilities across the country is the lack of access to #retailchoice. This is different than Illinois and Texas that give these customers choices to purchase #renewablepower. In regulated markets, the customers are completely reliant on the utility as it stands now. Thankfully we have Priya Barua, Celeste Wanner and others from Clean Energy Buyers Association (CEBA) who are advocating for policies for customers to not be forced to buy whatever power the utility generates or decides to build, which has been increasingly #fossilfuel generators, but to purchase #renewableenergy to support their consumption. I commend their work, and as we as consumers want to #digitize everything who also support #decarbonization need to support their advocacy efforts.

Blackstone Is Building a $25 Billion Empire of Power-Hungry Data Centers "Power is already strained in key parts of the country. QTS estimates that its projects, once complete, will tap into some 6 gigawatts of electricity, equal to the needs of roughly 5 million homes. Some campuses will need new power lines, threatening higher costs to others on the grid." The economic impact of the centers isn’t distributed equally, as the vast industrial parks filled with computers, has a dramatically smaller economic footprint when compared to properties such as commercial centers, warehouse and light industrial, hotels and shopping centers that draw a steady flow of visitors and jobs. https://lnkd.in/eCKV-Czx

𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝟭𝟰 𝗢𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗚𝗼𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝘂𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 The nearshoring movement is fueling a surge in Canadian data center development, according to Turner & Townsend. With businesses moving operations closer to home, the demand for data centers is booming. The 2024 International Construction Market Survey reports a significant uptick in investment, especially outside major cities, with Toronto leading due to its affordable land. In 2023 alone, North American data center asset sales hit $4.8 billion—a 29% increase year-over-year. Investors are eyeing substantial growth in data center assets over the next five years, with build-to-suit projects presenting the biggest opportunities over the next 12-24 months. Major deals, like KDDI’s $1B acquisition of Allied Properties, Brookfield’s $5.7B purchase of Compass Data Centers, and Manulife’s 70% controlling stake in Serverfarm, reflect the strong demand. Leading cloud providers like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft are ramping up investments to keep up with consumer demand, pushing hyperscale data center growth. In the U.S., construction has skyrocketed, growing more than sevenfold in just two years, with preleasing rates at 84% and rents climbing between 13% and 37%. Cap rates are staying below 6%, and turnkey developments are yielding over 9.5%. However, power availability is a growing concern. DigitalBridge CEO Marc Ganzi has raised the alarm about potential shortages, prompting companies like Microsoft to explore sustainable energy solutions, including SMR nuclear power plants. Oracle’s Larry Ellison and Google’s Sundar Pichai have both announced plans for 1GW data center campuses supported by SMRs.
