Today, I did one of my favourite things: watch other people run. It was the Alresford 10k, and my OH was racing, along with some other clubmates, so I went along to support. It was one of my favourite days of late. We got there early for registration, so I went off for a 5k run while they were all sorting out their numbers. By the time I got back, they'd found themselves a nice little dugout near the finish and enjoying a bit of pre-race camaraderie. After they all set off, I got myself a sausage bap and coffee as my post-run snack! Then I found myself a nice quiet space to cheer them home. Some of them had a bad day, and some of them had a good day - that's the way running goes. And, as far as goodie bags go, this one was pretty unique, with a buff, some watercress, a banana, and a cookie from the local cafe - pretty spot on in my opinion in terms of local and traditional products. (Although I do always like to have a medal!). I definitely prefer supporting, rather than running the races myself, for various different reasons and whilst I didn't hear any positive reasons to do this one next year (too hot, too hilly, no earphones), it was a great day out from a spectating point of view. How has your weekend been? Do you like a medal, or do you support the more sustainable approach? #Runner #Run #running #runningcommunity #RunningGoals #racing

Co-Founder and Principal of The Outlet Resource Group & T36 Golf; Entrepreneur; Outlet and Retail Expertise; Strategist; Endurance Athlete; "Find business opportunities that the smart people overlook".
This past Saturday, I ran my second race of 2024. It was also my first race since turning 60. I moved up to the 60-64 age group. One of many benefits to aging, is every four years becoming the "youngest in my age group" classification. The race is part of the Knoxville Track Club's Winter Road Series. The 10 mile race has been a staple for East Tennesee for years. We added a five mile race to this year's event. I chose the five-mile race. And, with some reluctance. Last week was a long week, business wise. Travel and dealing with the challenges that we all deal with living the "entrepreneurial life". I really wanted to roll over and go back to sleep when my early morning alarm went off. Getting out of the house is often a challenge we all face at times with our goals to be active. The benefits are significant and for me, it was great to race but even better to catch up with friends. I am always glad I made the effort of taking that first step to get out of the house and get going. A majority of my training is done solo. My schedule is hectic, and I do a lot of late-night training. One of my goals for 2024 is to make time to run, ride or swim with friends. It does make a difference. If you are struggling with your plans to get more active in the new year, I encourage to find a partner to make the process more enjoyable. #running #runningmotivation #runner #runners #endurance #triathlete #triathlontraining #bylr #VarloSports #Varlo Inc #healthandwellness #agingwell #knoxville #ktc #nike #patagonia #T36Golf

Cycle sports is reliant on a strong sporting governance preparing effective strategies that the many individual non affiliated single riders can ensure opportunities improve and develop. Simply relying on the basis of an economic value of cyclist spend does not give any structure whereas the overdue development of a strategic plan wider than raising an annual crop of road or track racers to appeal to state sports funding will hopefully reap benefits for all cyclist over the next few decades.
Help shape the future of bike racing in Wales. Building on the engagement undertaken in the past 12 months to help shape our new strategy ‘Wales. #MadeForBikes’, Beicio Cymru is excited to announce the opening of a public consultation for our new Events Strategy and applications for our reformed discipline commissions. We're encouraging anyone with an interest in racing to dream big, come and share your ideas and lets get Wales racing! From grassroots to grand tours, we'll explore the 'wants/needs' alongside the structures we need to deliver these in Wales. Please share. Thanks in advance.

MOAB 240- Founded in 2017, the Moab 240 was created in honor of distance runner Stephen Jones. The 238 miles (383 km) race begins and ends in Moab, Utah, after which it is named following the trail of the Colorado River. The course has 28,893 feet (8,807 m) of ascent, and covers desert basins as well parts of the Abajo and La Sal mountains. The course time limit is 113 hours. I first took cognizance of this monster of a race while I was reading David Goggins' book Never Finished. I never knew it was humanly possible to run this far and that such races even exists. A quick google search made me both excited and scared as I was looking at the course. The entry fee is $1195 and most seasoned runners partake in the race to prove their mettle. Destination Trail, the premier host of 200 milers, boldly claims, “200s are the new 100s.” More people than ever are committing themselves to attempting these mind-bending, quad-shredding distances, but nearly half of them will go home empty-handed and broken. The winner of a 200 miler will not cross the finish line until nearly 60 hours of continuous running. Most finishers will complete the course in 80-90 hours. Finish rates, on average across the races and years, hover around 60%. So do you have what it take to get that legendary buckle? Participate and you'll know! #ultrarunning #trailrunning #run #ultrarunner #runner #trailrun #trail #training #ultra #fitness #ultramarathon #runnersworld #runnerscommunity #runningcommunity #moab240

RUN MELBOURNE 🌆 2024 edition is in the books. A strong showing from the JET athletes who took to the streets of Melbourne 🏃 We are strong believers in using winter to build better athletes for racing season. As such we don’t call it an ‘off-season’ - which helps frame the mindset for athletes and coaches alike. Running events are popular during this period, which makes a running project an obvious choice, but there are many other viable options 🏋️ 🏊 At the same time we can both move performance forward and refresh the training approach - it’s a win-win ✅ #jetcoaching #beyourbest #running #triathloncoaching
