Sometimes the perception can be that introverts are less confident than their extrovert peers and while this isn't necessarily true, introverts do often have to find techniques to get their ideas vocalized. The good news is that introversion isn't about personality or confidence and there are ways to build the muscles needed to display the confidence you already posses (and to strengthen it where you might need to). I love these 'micro risk' suggestions and micro risks are a great way for anyone, introvert or extrovert, to build skills in any area of life. #introvertmonday #personaldevelopment #leadership https://lnkd.in/ena3kA-s

“When you play in toxic dependencies such as independence, codependence, or dependency, you put up walls. Walls are not boundaries - walls keep people out. They create emotional disengagement. Boundaries on the other hand keep people from stepping too close to those things you value and are not prepared to compromise on. When we set boundaries we have greater respect for ourselves & in turn others have greater respect for us, leading to active engagement, agency, and healthy relationships. The workplace isn’t introvert friendly. We often overlook introverts for promotions and credit for their contributions because we don’t understand them. When I spent time learning more about introverts in the workplace some of my biggest takeaways were- ▪️You can’t “fix” them. Forcing them outside of their box with interactions isn’t going to make them “better”. It’s not a phobia- you can’t exposure therapy an introvert to a more professionally accommodating extrovert. ▪️They usually are better performers and leaders than you realized because you didn’t realize them. You were too distracted by the always talking team member, usually about how much they know, to notice the one that might be labeled snobby or quiet. This mistake also is found at the root cause of a lot of bad promotions into leadership positions. Spending more time studying introverts in the professional space made me realize I made a lot of mistakes in my career not understanding the difference between the two and how it translated professionally. Don’t try and change your introverts to fit into your box of (likely) extrovert defined success- Build them their own boxes and watch them elevate your organization.

Experienced CS people leader with a passion for helping people achieve their professional goals! Experienced in leading leaders, operations, and project and program management.
In the bustling world of professional environments, the subtle influence of introversion often remains overlooked. As an introvert navigating the intricacies of the workplace myself, I've come to appreciate firsthand the profound significance of our unique perspective and contributions. Though we introverts may not command attention in the same way as our extroverted counterparts do, our depth of thought, meticulous attention to detail, and strategic problem-solving abilities are invaluable assets in any organizational setting. For me, as leader, I find my strength lies in my ability to observe, analyze, and strategize with a precision that can easily go unnoticed. While I may not always vocalize my thoughts, when I do, it's with a deliberate intention to add genuine value to the conversation. This quiet power commands attention, as colleagues recognize that my words carry weight and insight. What sets introverts apart is our capacity for deep introspection and empathy. We excel in roles that demand careful consideration, thoughtful communication, and genuine connection. Our preference for meaningful interactions over superficial chatter fosters a culture of authenticity and understanding within teams. Recognizing the strengths of introverts is pivotal for fostering an inclusive and innovative workplace culture. By creating spaces where introverts can thrive—whether through written communication, one-on-one interactions, or structured brainstorming sessions—organizations unlock a wealth of untapped potential. When introverts are valued and empowered to contribute in ways that honor their unique strengths, we not only enrich the collective experience but also drive meaningful progress and growth. #introvert #introvertsintheworkplace #leadership #collaboration #extrovert #quitepower #personalitytypes

Champion of Hope & Resilience: Igniting Transformation in Corporations, Teams, and Individuals 💙Power-Up
In a recent conversation with Jim Cathcart , a powerful perspective on self-doubt and engagement was shared. When faced with nervousness or doubt, especially in professional settings, the key is to shift the focus onto others and find ways to engage and interact meaningfully. Jim poignantly reminded us that the voice of self-doubt often comes from a version of ourselves that is 'only partially educated and experienced.' It lacks the wisdom needed to assess our true capabilities. So, when this voice of doubt speaks up, remember it doesn't have the authority to define your potential. Embracing this mindset not only alleviates nervousness but also opens up avenues for more authentic and effective interactions. Let's approach our professional engagements with this newfound confidence, knowing that our self-doubt is just a voice from our less experienced self. The wisdom to move forward lies within us. 💙Power-Up #OvercomingSelfDoubt #ProfessionalGrowth #EffectiveEngagement #JasonTharp #JimCathcart

🌟 **The Underrated Power of Self-Respect in the Professional World** 🌟 In the pursuit of excellence, we often encounter the delicate balance between accepting constructive criticism and maintaining our self-respect. While it's crucial to differentiate between the two, the latter often takes a backseat in our discussions on professional growth. #SelfRespect #ProfessionalGrowth #ConstructiveFeedback Self-respect isn't about taking things personally; it's about recognizing your inherent worth and refusing to compromise it for the sake of professional advancement. It's understanding that criticism of your work is valid, but any attack on your identity—be it your ethnicity, nationality, or beliefs—is a red flag that should never be tolerated. #IdentityRespect #ProfessionalEthics Constructive feedback uplifts; it focuses on actionable improvements and leaves you feeling empowered. However, it should never encroach upon your sense of self-worth. Remember, you're not just accepting feedback; you're shaping your growth journey. #Empowerment #ProfessionalDevelopment For those in positions of authority, wielding the power to critique comes with a responsibility—to address actions, not identities. Respect in leadership means guiding others towards improvement without diminishing their dignity. #Leadership #RespectfulFeedback At the heart of it all lies a simple truth: Your self-respect is invaluable. No amount of professional success is worth sacrificing it. Cherish it, nurture it, and let it guide you towards a fulfilling career and a life of dignity. #CareerAdvice #SelfWorth #ProfessionalSuccess Remember, you are never truly successful if your self-respect is compromised. Invest in it, protect it, and watch it pave the way for your success 🙂 #SuccessMindset #PersonalGrowth #CareerSuccess
