I just watched this video by Laura Whaley about sending emails outside of "normal" working hours, and I couldn't agree more. 📧 👏 As a freelancer, my work hours are flexible, often varying throughout the day (or night!). LinkedIn has a new update called 'collaboration article' where experts in certain fields are invited to give suggestions, opinions and answers to various rising questions in the workforce and I've been working on it for while now even while I was in ghost mode 👻 Yesterday, one stood out to me cause it was the first hurdle I encountered when I got back to work this year. So, I'm just gonna address it. The question was, "How can you manage emails that require urgent attention?" In my opinion, there are several ways to manage emails but first, Deep breaths 😆 To manage urgent emails effectively, I create separate folders for them. Keeping them away from your inbox enables proper tracking so they don't get lost in the sea of other not do important emails. I set up notifications for these folders and prioritize responses to those messages. This ensures you don't miss critical messages. I like to regularly check and clear these folders to ensure timely attention to urgent matters. This also ensures that important emails don't get buried, and you maintain a quick response time. (Also to me, there's nothing like a clear folder. It means no pending work, it gives me peace). Finally, I periodically review my email management strategy. I adjust folder structures, or other settings based on evolving priorities, tasks and work patterns.
