My usual walking pace is ~1000 steps in 10 minutes. On evenings when I am tired but have to get in my steps for the day, I try very hard. And a weird thing happens: No matter how hard I try, the pace often comes down to ~700 steps in 10 minutes. This isn't a one-time observation, rather happens almost every single time. Not just while walking. People's productivity goes down when they are trying too hard. Or unable to be creative when they are anxious. Or make avoidable errors when they are shipping their work. Our goal isn't just to finish up the work. Anyone could do it. Our goal is also to plan it well, so we are able to do it better, faster, and without trying too hard. Planning requires hard work. But it saves from a ton of it later on. Including me planning on my walks every day :)) PS: If you liked this, you will love similar raw and real conversations every week in your inbox.
