Brno is experiencing a remarkable transformation, becoming a melting pot of cultures and nationalities. The latest statistics from the Ministry of the Interior reveal a significant increase in foreign residents, highlighting Brno's evolving demographic landscape. As of now, nearly 65,000 individuals from almost 150 countries have chosen Brno as their home, either for permanent or temporary residence. This diverse influx of people brings together a wealth of cultures, experiences, and perspectives, enriching the city's social fabric. Ján Zvara, a leading data analyst, shared insights into this trend: “In 2011, the global economic crisis led to a decrease in foreign residents in Brno. However, we're now witnessing a complete reversal of this trend, with numbers reaching close to 70,000.” Among these residents, Ukrainians form the largest group, followed by Slovaks, Vietnamese, and Russians. The surge in Ukrainian residents, particularly since 2022, underscores the impact of global events on migration patterns. What's fascinating is the growing diversity within this demographic. The Filipino community, for example, has seen its numbers nearly double in just two years, indicating Brno's appeal to a wide range of nationalities. From an employment perspective, Brno's labor market includes over 69,000 foreign workers. This figure highlights the city's economic vitality and its role as a hub for international talent. The majority of these workers come from the EU or countries with unrestricted labor market access, reflecting regional trends and Brno's strategic position within the European labor market. This demographic shift in Brno is not just a statistic; it's a testament to the city's openness, economic resilience, and cultural richness. As a vibrant center for business and innovation, Brno's diverse population adds depth and dynamism to its community, fostering an environment where different cultures and ideas thrive. #Diversity #Brno #GlobalCommunity #InnovationHub #czechrepublic #czechia Brno Expat Centre Jan Kopkáš

There are many expats in Denmark, but in the political realm, no one talks about them. If expats want to have their voice heard in the public debate and influence the rules they live under, they need a political voice. Sune Steffen Hansen is a partner at Rud Pedersen Danmark Public Affairs. Sune is a voter analyst and commentator in Danish media. Former advisor for Socialdemokratiet, with a Master’s in Political Science. Today, Denmark is a popular work-destination for many people around the world, and Copenhagen especially has turned into an international hub for highly-educated people. Some stay for a short time, boosting their work credentials before leaving for another destination. Others come here with the intention of studying, but are still here a decade later. Statistics Denmark just published new data for the population. According to this, there are currently close to 650,000 people with a foreign nationality, out of a population of almost 6 million. About half of these people come from Western societies. Others comes from countries like India, China, and such. The expat community could have a real influence by uniting. Imagine the political voice of half a million people if they unite and speak with one voice on issues that matter for the members of the community. This would have an impact. Take it from someone who has worked in Danish politics for 25 years. Full column: https://lnkd.in/dDhqrSSj

Expats’ happiness with their lives in South Africa improved by 15 ranks in 2024, which is partly why the country has over two million expats. However, they have noted that they still face several issues. South Africa made significant strides in the 2024 rankings, climbing 19 spots from 48th to 29th place after spending four consecutive years in the bottom ten. The country saw improvements in nearly all indices, particularly in housing and leisure options, which helped boost its overall standing. South Africa ranked 9th in the Housing Subcategory and 10th in Leisure Options, with expats praising the country’s recreational opportunities and vibrant culinary scene. Many respondents also highlighted the favourable climate and natural environment, with South Africa securing 3rd place for its natural beauty and 5th place for climate and weather. As of 2024, South Africa continues to be a popular destination for expats, particularly those from the UK and other European countries. An estimated 2 million expats live in South Africa, drawn by its diverse culture, relatively low cost of living, and natural beauty. Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban remain the most preferred cities for expats, with Cape Town often seen as the most desirable due to its vibrant urban life and stunning landscapes. Many expatriates work in sectors like IT, engineering, and finance, taking advantage of opportunities in these fields through critical skills work visas. South Africa also performed well in the Ease of Settling In Index, ranking 23rd. Expats found it relatively easy to make friends (13th place) and build personal support networks (11th place). Many respondents (29%) reported forming close relationships with locals, a higher percentage than the global average of 17%. Expats also appreciated the friendly and welcoming atmosphere, with 63% saying they feel at home in the country. In the Personal Finance Index, South Africa ranked 18th, with many expats citing affordable living costs and sufficient disposable income. Over 70% of expats said their income is enough to lead a comfortable life, surpassing the global average. #southafrica #leadership see the full story below The Future Leader Forum

The world 🌍 is changing, and so are we. It is becoming increasingly vibrant and diverse. The Expats in Europe could fill up Spain! Expats comprise about 5% to 7% of the European population, including EU and non-EU citizens living outside their country of origin. With Europe's population around 750 million, approximately 37.5 million to 52.5 million expatriates reside in European countries. Recent estimates suggest that expats comprise 3% to 4% of the global population. Approximately 232 million to 280 million people live outside their home country. These numbers vary depending on expat definitions and data collection methods, but this range gives a solid estimate of the expat community's global significance. It's a manifesto of our interconnected 🙌 and developing world. My mission is to empower Expats with the tools, knowledge, and confidence they need to thrive in their new cultural environments. I know that relocating to a foreign country can be both exhilarating and challenging. #ExpatLife #PersonalGrowth #EmbraceChange #InternationalLife #GrowthMindset #CareerDevelopment #BurstYourBubble

🌍 How satisfied are expats living in Germany? 🇩🇪 Did you know? Germany ranks 49th out of 53 countries in the Expat Insider 2023 survey, making it one of the least attractive destinations for expats. But why the dismal rating? Takeaways: 🔍 Challenges Abound: Expats face significant hurdles upon arrival, from navigating the country's digitalization woes to grappling with inflexible bureaucracy and a strained housing market. Adding to the struggle, Germans rank among the bottom 5 for friendliness, leaving many expats feeling isolated and disconnected. 😞 Unhappiness Abounds: With only 64% of expats reporting satisfaction with their life in Germany (compared to 72% globally), it's clear that there's room for improvement. The Ease of Settling In Index, which covers local friendliness and finding friends, ranks Germany at the bottom, highlighting the uphill battle expats face in building a social circle. 🤝 Seeking Connection: A staggering 55% of expats find it challenging to make local friends, while 32% lack a personal support network, contributing to feelings of alienation and homesickness. Unfortunately, this trend isn't new—Germany has consistently struggled in these areas over the past decade. 💼 Bright Spots: Despite the challenges, Germany shines in the Working Abroad Index, boasting a robust job market and high job security, placing it in the global top 5. Expats also appreciate the quality of life, particularly the infrastructure and availability of green goods and services. 🗣️ A Mixed Bag: While Germany offers ample opportunities for career growth and sustainability, expats grapple with the complexities of daily life, from language barriers to bureaucratic hurdles. It's up to all of us in Germany to extend a helping hand to fellow expats, especially those who have recently arrived. Assisting with bureaucracy and facilitating the integration of expats into society is not just a responsibility—it's a testament to our values of inclusivity and community. By fostering a supportive environment for expats, we enrich our cultural tapestry and strengthen our bonds as a global community. Together, let's make Germany a welcoming home for all. 🤝 #ExpatLife #Germany #LivingAbroad https://lnkd.in/euizejnn

🌍 Reflections on Expat Life and Wealth Migration Trends🌍 Having worked abroad with local contracts, I've never identified as an expat in the traditional sense. Instead, I saw myself as an immigrant worker, much like many others striving to build a life in a new country. But the distinction between expats and immigrants is just one piece of the larger puzzle of global mobility. 📊 Wealth Migration Insights 📊 The Henley & Partners - The Firm of Global Citizens® Private Wealth Migration Report 2024 reveals fascinating trends in millionaire migration (see: https://lnkd.in/gzaDrEmh ) - 🇬🇧 : Anticipates a record net loss of 9,500 millionaires in 2024, a significant increase from previous years. - 🇦🇪 : Continues to be a top destination, attracting a net inflow of 6,700 millionaires this year. - 🇨🇳 & 🇮🇳 : While China sees the largest outflow, India's wealth exodus is slowing. https://lnkd.in/gzd-AC-z As geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainties rise, millionaires are voting with their feet, reshaping the global landscape. Countries like the UAE, with favorable tax regimes and luxury lifestyles, are becoming magnets for the wealthy. Conversely, nations experiencing political or economic turmoil are seeing significant outflows. 📈 The Bigger Picture 📈 This migration trend isn't just about numbers. It's about the shifting tectonic plates of wealth and power, with profound implications for the future of the nations involved. As some countries attract entrepreneurial talent and investment, others face challenges in retaining their wealthy citizens. For professionals, understanding these dynamics is crucial. It influences not only global markets but also corporate strategies and personal career paths. Let's stay informed and adapt to these changes, whether we're expats, immigrants, or simply global citizens. 🔍 What are your thoughts on these trends? Have you noticed any impact in your industry or personal life?
