The Spa Robe in restaurants debate! How comfortable do spa guests feel wearing a robe in a hotel restaurant where other diners are fully dressed? This spa etiquette question has come up a few times lately when I've visited spas which have just the one restaurant for spa and hotel guests. My husband says he feels uncomfortable so always gets dressed for lunch whereas I'm quite happy staying cosy in my robe. Are spas and hotels doing enough to make guests feel fully relaxed? Actions such as placing hands in pockets, crossing arms, consuming food or beverages, chewing gum, excessive yawning or engaging in personal conversations within view of guests can significantly influence the perception of professionalism. It is vital to keep in mind that staff members are consistently in the spotlight, even from a distance. I love this 🙌🏼 isn’t Linkedin a great platform for sharing what everyone is doing to build employee engagement. And what if you are a small family owned business and this seems too grand, too difficult to organise or outside of your budget? Employee engagement is many things and what it is not is “one size fits all” so what works somewhere may not in another company. If you’re wondering I’ve also seen “welcome to work” look like this; ✨As the owner or senior leader stand at the entrance the team use to welcome everyone to their day ✨Hand out a mufffin and a juice to everyone on their way in ✨Take a muffin or pastry basket/box around to all the teams during a morning ✨If you have internal catering/restaurant serve people their breakfast or sit with them and remember those people who might come in later in the day on a later shift and do the equivalent for them 😉 I’d love to hear what other ideas there are - what have you experienced or done and how did it impact the team - drop some comments in 🙌🏼 Thank you for the share Claridge's #companyculture #employeeengagement #employeeexperience

𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗟𝗗 𝗦𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗘 𝗗𝗔𝗬😃 Not only on today's international 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆 we put a smile on our guests’ faces. It’s our goal all year round. According to a survey, the friendliness of service staff is most important to hotel and restaurant visitors. When asked what makes a good service person, 69 percent of respondents agreed: A smile on the face and a nice greeting are top of the tops! Another interesting fact: friendliness is more important to guests than competence, professionalism and even attentiveness. The friendliness of the staff is so important to many guests that they would avoid a restaurant in the future if the service was unfriendly. Competence, on the other hand, cannot compete with friendliness, but is definitely relevant for guests. About half of all respondents (49 percent) consider a good wine recommendation by the sommeliers or staff who are very familiar with the menu to be important. For truly satisfied guests, the attentiveness of the service staff comes in third: 43 percent of guests think that the service team should check on things without being asked and, for example, quickly bring new drinks. This form of hospitality is highly appreciated by guests, as they feel cared for and well advised and don't feel they are just one of many. Today's cocktail journey takes us to Josun Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Seoul Gangnam, a Forbes Travel Guide Recommended hotel that’s home to the 1914 Lounge & Bar. Nestled on the 24th floor with a splendid view of the city, the bar offers a beverage menu tailored by Ray Kim and his team featuring a wide variety of South Korean ingredients. Our focus today is on the Room Boy cocktail, which pays tribute to Josun Palace's “room boys,” who oversaw a guest’s stay and were known for their versatility, loyalty and kindness. The tipple provides an invigorating sensory experience. It begins with a burst of acidity, followed by the rich flavor of tequila, and spiciness from a blend of Tabasco sauce and pepper. The lasting taste is a blend of bitterness and sweetness, mirroring the multifaceted and impactful service provided by the room boys at the Seoul hotel in the early 1900s. Then to demonstrate versatility, omija berries are incorporated into the drink through a cordial. It is a unique Korean ingredient renowned for its five distinct flavors: sweet, sour, salty, bitter and pungent. The omija cordial is elevated with star anise, dried clove buds and pepper, symbolizing the complex and multifaceted service the room boys offered. It's a magnificent combination of ingredients paying tribute to Korean culture, as well as to the heritage of the property and its room boys.
