What do medical assistants do? Kysha, a senior medical assistant from MEDSTAR HEALTH shares her experience working as a medical assistant and what she likes most about her team. 🩺🚑 1️⃣ What do you like most about your role? One of the things I like about being a medical assistant is that we are the ones who set the tone for the patient when they come into the office. Our facial expression, what we say, our tone of voice while we’re triaging the patient can make all the difference for a patient to feel safe in a health care environment. 2️⃣ What’s it like working in a Maryland hospital? What I like about working at MedStar Health is the promotion of teamwork and the constant pursuit that we are all on one accord. How we treat our patients and help manage their care can be a contributing factor for patients to keep their health care a priority. Keeping that in mind. Along with your special gifts, you can become a part of a community that is the MedStar Health team. 👉 Learn about Kysha's positive experience on the JoinMdHealth blog: https://lnkd.in/eTE_uGim #medicalassistantsweek #AMARWeek #medicalassistants

If you’re in private practice, have you seen the hospitals gain market share, hire top talent and grow faster than you? Here is the reason why. Hospitals get paid roughly 3x more for the same services provided by a private practice specialist. The same services. With more revenue for the same rendered services, they are then able to spend more to hire better talent, buy better equipment, build better infrastructure and hire better managers. When was the last time a private practice was able to do this without significant pain?

Fractional COO | Strategic Operations Leader | Driving Efficiency & Growth for SMBs | Part-Time Executive Services
The last few days were tough. I was at the Mount Sinai Hospital with a family member who needed medical attention. Thankfully, we just got home for Shabbos. But I learned something very interesting that I think is worth sharing. We were stuck in the emergency room for a few days. It was so frustrating—everything moved so slowly, and we constantly had to beg for updates to no end. It felt like a huge, impersonal machine with no one really paying attention to our needs. I’ve been to many hospitals before, helping others, and I’ve seen how different they can be. Every hospital has rules and procedures, and I get that. But what struck me was the lack of common sense at Mount Sinai. For example, when I went to get food from the Cheaed room, the guard at the emergency room made me walk around the entire building to re-enter from the street, even though I was just 10 feet away from where I was supposed to go. It was raining raining outside, and it made no sense. In contrast, I spent time with a friend at CHOP Hospital in Philadelphia last year. They also had strict rules, but they applied them with common sense and a human touch. It made all the difference. This experience made me think about how we run our businesses. Yes, we need rules and processes. However, we must also use common sense and remember the human element. It’s not just about the rules; it’s about how we apply them. Have you experienced something similar? How do you balance process and common sense in your work?
