Extreme Kids & Crew (EKC) is thrilled to announce a unique three-year partnership with the Center for All Abilities (CAA) in Chinatown, beginning this July. Founded in 2015, CAA has been at the forefront of bridging the service gap for neurodiverse youth, particularly within the Chinese immigrant community in Manhattan. Their commitment to offering enrichment programs and fostering a supportive environment for families resonates deeply with our mission at EKC, making this partnership a natural and powerful alliance. This ongoing collaboration, made possible by the New York Community Trust, will broaden our reach and promise a summer filled with new experiences and opportunities for neurodivergent girls, families, and older youth. Explore our exciting summer schedule, which brings more enriching programs to our communities in Brooklyn and Manhattan. EKC/CAA together, we will create fun and brave spaces that nurture a sense of belonging and community for neurodivergent youth. #neurodivergentcommunity #allablitys #disabilitycommunity #partnership #summerclubsnyc

Why It Matters: In the communities we serve, many children face significant challenges that hinder their growth. The ultimate goal is to nurture well-rounded individuals who are emotionally resilient, socially connected, and intellectually curious. By focusing on psycho-social well-being through creative engagement, My Perch aims to empower children and adolescents in Noida's slum communities to build better futures for themselves and their communities. Implementation at My Perch My Perch integrates these elements into their programs to create a holistic approach to child development. We uphold :- -Workshops and Classes: Regular sessions in art, music, drama, and other creative disciplines led by trained facilitators. -Community Events: Organizing performances, exhibitions, and festivals that showcase children's talents and foster community pride. -Safe Spaces: Creating safe, welcoming environments where children feel secure to explore their creativity and express themselves. -Mentorship and Counseling: Providing guidance and support from mentors and counselors to help children navigate their challenges and maximize their potential.

It’s been a long time coming but the last of my thesis chapters has now been published in this exceptional book. That means there are now five publications out there for you to access that describe why you need to understand and support children’s participation in urban planning processes for vulnerable settlements, and how to influence organisations to get on board. Why is this important? * at best, children’s participation influences the whole of #communityresilience * at its worst, lack of children’s participation can lead to built environment decisions that threaten their lives, long-term health, and creates suspicion of decision-makers and institutions When participation is meaningful and safe, children produce hard data that can result in built environment decisions that generate and build social capital. In return, the impact you have when you involve children can last into adulthood and influence their career decisions. My latest chapter focuses on an extraordinary organisation that is creating huge impact around the world: “Institutional logics and children’s participation - a case study of Artolution ‘s public art projects in internally displaced persons (IDP) and refugee settlements” Please reach out if you would like to know more about this work and how we are planning to incorporate this work into our community resilience practices at McGregor Coxall . https://lnkd.in/gvBpW7EB

🌟 Education and community participation are two sides of the same coin when it comes to societal development. Education equips individuals with knowledge and skills, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to their communities. When people actively engage with their communities, they apply their education to solve real-world problems, fostering positive change and a sense of unity. 📚 📆 #EducationForDevelopment #CommunityParticipation #SocietalDevelopment #KnowledgeAndSkills #PositiveChange #UnityInCommunity #EducationMatters #CommunityEngagement #col1920

Does it take a village to bring up our children and why is it important? This proverb highlights the importance of collective responsibility, support, and guidance in nurturing and educating a child to ensure they grow up well-rounded and supported. Having a “village” means that a child is exposed to a variety of influences, perspectives, and resources. Extended family members, teachers, neighbors, and community members can provide emotional support, mentorship, and different viewpoints that enrich a child’s development. When children are not exposed to diversity in terms of culture, race, socioeconomic status, ideas, or perspectives consequences can arise 😔 Lack of exposure to diversity can lead to the development of stereotypes and biases 😔children who haven’t been exposed to diversity might find it difficult to interact with peers from different backgrounds. This can lead to social isolation, misunderstandings, or conflicts 😔Children who are not exposed to diversity might struggle in multicultural workplaces or globalized settings, where collaboration with people from different backgrounds is often required. When children grow up valuing diversity, they are more likely to advocate for inclusivity and fairness in their communities and for everyone around them making the village they grew up in a loving safe place to be and to see everyone as a friend 💕
