Check out this amazing video highlighting the 2024 F2F Music Foundation Summer Camp at the HCC Stafford Fine Arts Center! Each year, music students learn songs to perform with my band for a finale concert. This year, they even composed and recorded their own song! Thanks to HCC Southwest, Don Wells, Randall Williams, Stafford METV, and HCC Stafford TV studio! #musicstudents#STEAM#F2FMusicSummerCamp#allmusicgenresF2F Music Foundation#hamfam

Why did the Texas Music Educators Association dismiss a system that could help every child become a musician? 🤯 The Soft Mozart method shows how music education can be engaging, inclusive, and effective. So why was it kept in the shadows? Let’s explore the reasons together.

Education Policy Initiative research has shown that, alongside Blackpool & Torbay, Hull has seen a particularly sharp widening of the disadvantage gap, post pandemic. I haven’t seen any evidence that ‘levelling up’ Education Investment Area funding has made a difference, but regardless, the city didn’t receive any.
Given that context, this annual report from our deliberately non-elitest music service is really important, demonstrating a clear link between learning an instrument, either individually or in a group, and both progress and attainment at KS4.
The sample size is not small. 48% of Hull’s musical instrument learners live in wards that are among the 10% most deprived in the country.
Not only does this tell you all you need to know about Hull’s inclusion-first music service, there are clear messages here for policy makers, including that narrowing the curriculum is no way to promote opportunity for all.

The Hull Music Service Annual Report celebrates the fantastic work of my team, our schools & partners across the previous academic year.
It has been presented to the Hull Music Hub Board, Local Authority Scrutiny, Primary Heads Forum and the Hull Learning Partnership, as well as being circulated to Partners and has now been made public on our website.
It demonstrates the strength & breadth of what has been achieved by schools, partners, communities, and the music service team working together as a Music Hub. There is still much to do, but much to celebrate! #puttingmusicattheheartofhull
