⚠️ Do you know a young medical intern? ⚠️ As medical professionals, we often prioritize the health of our patients while sometimes neglecting our own. Recognizing the intense demands of a medical internship, it’s crucial to emphasize the importance of good nutrition for our young doctors embarking on this challenging journey. Being married to doctor, I know how busy and demanding it can get, meal times are late and often missed! Some nutrition is better than none! Eating on time means you fuel your brain well and often, keeping it going through long, stressful days and nights! I’m excited to share my recent article published in the Intern101, of the South African Medical Association journal, where I delve into practical and effective nutritional strategies for interns. This piece is more than just advice; it’s a toolkit for maintaining physical and mental well-being in a demanding environment. Then to page 56, to get the nutritious details, or peruse through this entire magazine and learn something new! Whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or a budding medical intern, I believe the insights shared here will be beneficial. Let’s not forget that taking care of ourselves enables us to provide the best care for our patients. https://lnkd.in/gdD7rpZ9 #MedicalProfessionals #Healthcare #Nutrition #Interns #MedicalInternship #WellBeing #sama

I ghostwrite educational email courses for healthcare leaders | Physician researcher | Academic Coach | Forever curious about leadership and academia
After years of medical school, internship, residency and for some, fellowship - you finally become the attending physician, or in some countries, the consultant doctor. I’ve been at several conference panels where residents and fellows asked what they should know before being an attending physician. In the panels, there are attending physicians who are in private practice and in academia. I am surprised to hear the same themes coming up over and over again. I am going to share 5 things you need to know so that you get the ground running as you transition into your new job. Time Stamps 0:00 - Intro 0:40 - Create a presence 3:03 - Presence in the virtual world 3:34 - Balance autonomy vs asking questions 4:26 - Higher workload and responsibilities 5:46 - Professionalism 7:01 - Build your own curriculum for your career Link in the comment.

I recently completed a 15-day internship in the ER, where I had the incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The ER is a challenging place to develop medical skills, offering invaluable learning opportunities at every turn. However, it was also an emotionally intense experience, as I witnessed the reality of pain and the loss of lives up close. Each patient’s struggle felt personal, and it reinforced the importance of empathy and compassion in healthcare. This internship has deepened my understanding of the human side of medicine, allowing me to grow both professionally and personally. #EmergencyMedicine #ERExperience #HealthcareLearning #MedicalSkills #PatientCare #EmpathyInMedicine #MedicalTraining #HealthcareHeroes #CriticalCare #ProfessionalGrowth #ResilienceInHealthcare #CompassionateCare

From the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC): “Diverse perspectives and backgrounds in the health professions — spanning classrooms, labs, and clinical settings — enriches the educational experiences of all medical and health professions students and the teaching experiences of faculty. Diversity, including racial and ethnic diversity, is essential to improving the overall health of our nation. In fact, diversity cultivates an innovation mindset, catalyzes creativity and discovery, and enhances complex problem-solving, prediction, and forecasting.” Our Talent Garden youth summits and summer internship program inspires youth of color to pursue healthcare careers. It moves us in the right direction to improve outcomes for #BlackMaternalHealth and lessen health disparities in marginalized communities. #healthequity #BlackMaternalHealthWeek https://lnkd.in/g6zJ-C5n
