Innovations in Packaging: Notable exhibitors included Coveris, which introduced sustainable packaging solutions like the BarrierFresh MAP skillets and MonoFlex films and laminates. SEALPAC also emphasized eco-friendly packaging materials. 🍌 Mount Everest in Bananas: As a playful aside, consider this: Mount Everest’s official height of 8,848.86 meters translates to approximately 46,449 bananas stacked end to end. SIAL Paris 2024: A Global Platform for Food Industry Innovation Since its inception in Paris in 1964, the SIAL (Salon International de l’Alimentation) has become one of the world’s premier food industry trade fairs. Held this year from October 19 to 23, SIAL 2024 gathered over 285,000 visitors and 7,500 exhibitors from 130 countries, creating a global hub for food and beverage professionals to exchange insights on the future of food. Spotlight on Innovation and Sustainability This year’s SIAL Paris focused on key themes such as sustainability, technological innovation, and corporate social responsibility. The SIAL Innovation showcase featured 1,800 groundbreaking products, including awards like the 60 Years Award and the Africa Award, celebrating the industry’s most forward-thinking innovations. Technology and Startups at SIAL Summits The SIAL Summits explored trending topics like artificial intelligence, deep tech, and supply chain innovation, offering essential insights into the industry’s upcoming challenges. 🇫🇷Day 2 Highlights from SIAL Paris 2024 Trade Fair Yesterday was an insightful kickoff to the SIAL Paris 2024 Trade Fair, with participants from 🇬🇭Ghana and 🇰🇪Kenya sharing valuable lessons from the Innovation Tours. Key takeaways focused on the: ➡️Evolution of the Ready-to-Eat (RTE) healthy food and beverage industry, ➡️Emphasizing the importance of market understanding and innovation ➡️Leveraging AI for market development. ➡️A major challenge discussed was supply chain management in Ghana, where a growing demand for fresh produce is driving large players to adopt contract farming models. The key message: investing in large-scale production is essential to meet this demand, but businesses also face hurdles accessing long-term trade finance, which remains scarce. In the morning, we had three captivating presentations. ✅Bruno Giroud of Frucom highlighted the importance of adhering to European Commission regulations in the food and beverage sector, focusing on best practices for microbiological control, contaminants, and building a strong human resource base. ✅The Secretary General of the fresh prune industry, BIP, discussed the adoption of ovens in their drying processes, which is boosting efficiency and quality in prune production. ✅Finally, Beatrice de Reynal from Nutrimarketing in France delved into innovative approaches to nutrimarketing, focusing on how brands can better communicate the health benefits of their products. She emphasized the growing consumer interest in nutritional transparency and how businesses can use strategic marketing to align with these trends, ensuring their products stand out in competitive markets. In today‘s exhibition world, #sustainability is gaining more and more importance. Resource management is crucial in sustainability. Hence recyclable and reusable materials play a key role in this regard. In our latest projects, we reused the same stand materials about at 70% level and thus cut significant cost and helped protect #environment. In the future, lacking this perspective in the exhibition services industry means no more business in the EU.
