What’s Next for Telehealth? Key Policy Changes to Watch: Telehealth saw explosive growth during the pandemic, with the percentage of practices using it skyrocketing from 14% in 2018 to 74% post-pandemic (American Medical Association). But as we move further from the pandemic, many of the policies that made telehealth possible are being re-examined, which could impact everything from practice workflows to reimbursement rates. In our latest blog, Peggy Kelly and Victoria Richmond explore how upcoming telehealth policy changes could affect your practice, particularly in areas like behavioral health, Medicare reimbursements, and the prescribing of controlled substances. Staying informed could be the key to navigating these changes smoothly and continuing to provide quality care. 🔗 Click here to learn more about what’s ahead for telehealth→ https://ow.ly/sslQ50THlKh #Telehealth #HealthcarePolicy #FutureOfTelehealth #HealthcareInnovation #RCM #Telemedicine

By the end of the year, over 67 million Medicare recipients could lose access to telehealth services. In a new article from MarketWatch, Jessica Wagner, Chief Operating Officer for RXNT, discusses the important role telehealth plays in the patient journey and explains what steps should be taken to avoid going back in time. Roughly 5% of Medicare recipients or 3.4 million Americans—those that are immobile, disabled, located in rural areas, or simply short on time—are actively using telehealth services in 2024. Cutting access to something that provides flexibility and accessibility for Medicare beneficiaries could lead to “chaos” and confusion for those relying on the functionality for their health. Great article by Mario Aguilar STAT News: Disruptions loom for #telehealth providers and patients as Congress inches closer to deadline - "The telehealth legislation moving through #Congress has bipartisan support, and there’s broad confidence among stakeholders that extensions will be passed...Legislative inaction... could cause hiccups not just for providers but also for regulators like the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Christopher J Adamec executive director of the Alliance for Connected Care, pointed out that there are differences between the bill that was passed by the House Ways & Means Committee and the one being considered by Energy & Commerce; the Senate has yet to take up legislation. If the telehealth flexibilities are extended as part of year-end spending legislation, Adamec said, there’s a risk that stakeholders won’t have the opportunity to weigh in on last-minute provisions and compromises. “The chances of unintended consequences due to unvetted language dramatically increases, the less time there is for feedback,” he said." https://lnkd.in/g9NwvySP

🌟 Big News for Telehealth & Hospital-at-Home Programs! 🌟 A key bill just took a major step forward in Congress! On September 18th, the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce unanimously passed the Telehealth Modernization Act of 2024, which could transform how healthcare is delivered to millions. This bill would: - Extend the hospital-at-home waiver for 5 more years, allowing Medicare recipients to continue to receive acute care at home. - Continue telehealth flexibilities for another 2 years, making healthcare more accessible for seniors, people with mobility challenges, and those in rural areas. These extensions are vital as many hospitals and patients have come to rely on the program since its launch in 2020. Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) put it well: "This is life-saving healthcare for Medicare beneficiaries who need it most." Excited to see how this impacts healthcare innovation in the U.S. and the role it plays in shaping the future of care-at-home solutions! Let’s push for a swift vote on the House floor. 🏥💻 Read more from Becker’s: https://lnkd.in/gBfTmB58 #Telehealth #HospitalAtHome #HealthcareInnovation #Medicare #HealthTech #Congress #CareAtHome #VirtualCare
