Had a fantastic time digging into Triton Digital's #ComprehensiveGuidetoAudio resource. Some metrics that really stood out were: 📱 70% of respondents are replacing their social media time with podcast listening 🎧 A whopping 65% of audio listeners skip online video ads, but only 10% of listeners skip audio ads 👥 (An IAB stat) - 40% of Americans are listening to podcasts monthly, but only 3.7% of advertising budgets are spent on podcasts This really begs the question: if listeners are ACTIVELY tuning in to audio ads, why in the world is only 3.7% of advertising budgets allocated to podcasts?! So, as a reminder (we're looking at you, 96.3% of ad budgets), your target audience is ACTIVELY listening to audio ads...

Growing a podcast listenership can be very difficult, even if you have an existing audience (such as local news publishers). One mistake that I've seen clients make is going to traditional advertising platforms like social media or Google to grow their podcast. The fact is that podcast listeners don't find new podcasts through those channels. The best way to reach new listeners is: 1️⃣ Recommendations 2️⃣ Other podcasts One cheat code to find new listeners is through services like AudioGO. Audio ads on this platform can be utilized especially well for local publishers thanks to the geotargeting features that they offer. You can target listeners by state, county, city, metro area, or even zip code. I've seen this work well for local news publishers as the local news podcast that they're advertising is typically hyper-relevant to listeners already consuming podcasts in their area.
