When you care deeply about your work, it's easy to pour your *everything* into it. A lot of charity folks pour our souls into what we do. Into the change we want to see. So much so, it can be easy to forget: 💚 Rest isn't something to be "earned" 💚 We're also worthy of support 💚 We deserve the care we give others "You deserve one heck of a community." I sometimes hear people say that they would prefer to give their donations directly, hand 🫳🏽 to hand 🫴, rather than through a charity. I get it, cut out the middle man. And sometimes this makes sense. But more than likely, if our goal 🎯is to empower people out of hardship, then it will take more than a handout, and that’s where a good charity comes in. They can provide targeted support, monitoring and evaluation - and that costs money too btw (🤯!). Usually, leaving it to trusted professionals rather than DIY, will be more impactful. So next time you give, find an organisation which is focused on impact, but makes you feel like you’re giving the donation hand to hand. p.s. when you see fundraisers personally flying around the world to deliver aid.. ✈️questions should be asked! The chances are this is neither effective nor efficient. #impactfirst #intentionalgiving

How can we transform our community? Some say charity begins at home. And we believe in creating a family environment to nurture our Obsidian employees, the communities we work in and then to support and extended family in times of need. It's been a tough year and, we will continue to support #SantaShoeboxes and Thandanani House of Refuge. #MakeADifferenceDay #SantaShoeboxes https://bit.ly/3jFTZ8N If you are stuck with any ideas for you to contribute personally go to https://bit.ly/3C7F0Oz

Decision-making can be hard, especially if we are second-guessing ourselves and wondering if we are making the right decision. Taking a photo to document something you are donating or giving away can be helpful. I do this all the time. Knowing that you probably won't miss the item may help. There have only been a couple of times that I have wondered where something went, but it wasn't a problem. I could either find something similar or, in most cases, I didn't do anything and used something else. #makespace #cleanandorganize #lifeorganizer #professionalorganizing #letitgo I have no regrets! What do you want to make a decision about and let go of? Trash, donate, or give away?
