"The challenge lies in setting aside your ego and prioritizing the outcome over being right. Growth involves a personal struggle, and this aspect is particularly tough because we naturally desire to be right and protect ourselves, a tendency that has often served us well." We're proud to continue our tradition of featuring #ProductHeroes and celebrate their achievements and moments of pride. This week, we're hosting Itay Dror, Head of Product at BeeHero, an incredible partner for us at Entor. It is such a unique pleasure to work with this bright product leader, with insights sweet as honey! 🐝 🍯 (Not too funny. We know. 🤐) Give it up for Itay! ⭐️ Proudest moment as a product leader "That moment, after you tried time and again to deliver what you think your customers need the most, and you enter the office, look at the dashboard, and suddenly realize that something "ticked" in engagement." ⭐️ Personal North Star Metric for Product Impact "The 'strict' metric usually ends in measuring the engagement of some sort, because this is the best direct way to measure the value that the product provides, but for me a question that is just as important, even though a bit 'softer' is: 'Does it impact the outcome?'. Often it helps us focus and drive great discussions." ⭐️ Secret Weapon for Product Management Knowledge "Unfortunately, no secret weapons here. The usual podcasts (mostly in Hebrew) and newsletters (first and foremost Marty Cagan, but also the great Noa Ganot!). And just as important, picking other great and experienced Product Leaders brains."

For any of my network in Product Mgmt or anyone in Platform Engineering I highly recommend listening to Shane Parrish's The Knowledge Project podcast (episode #175) with Shreyas Doshi talking about his learnings as one of the first product managers at Stripe. Lots resonated here.... 1. The importance of talent agency, and cultivating high agency. How high agency talent should be prepared to step outside "the process" (think Day Two) to influence product outcomes. 2. The shift toward a writing culture for ideas rather than "everything a a slide deck" approach to unlock organisation clarity (think AWS '6 Pager'). He talks about the challenges that were faced in implementing the approach (some lacked experience in framing the problem) but also the benefits, particularly, that everyone has a voice - not just the privileged presenter of a slide deck in a boardroom. With the right level of support/coaching, the technique can also develop the ability to frame problems with a ubiquitous understanding of business drivers. For example, engineers being able to articulate the business outcomes for a technical recommendation. 3. Lastly, leveraging leading and lagging indicators but also in the early days it's just as much about sense-making positive progress. I'm selling this podcast short. There's so much more.... Go listen. :-) #productmgmt #platofrmengineering #cloudtalent #culture #productmindset

This episode is mind-stretching on so many levels! 🔥 Every product person should listen to this one. I recently tuned into the latest episode of Brian Balfour's and Fareed Mosavat's podcast - Unsolicited Feedback (Love the format btw. 🖤) - where Brian talked about eg. Players, Captains, Coaches Framework he initially shared on Lenny Rachitsky's podcast. For me it's a call to action to change product leadership paradigms, and how we should look at forming teams, project organization, and career development. Check out the episode to learn your own lessons! What I will also take from this episode is Claire Vo's stance on having product leaders dabble in Individual Contributor (IC) work – I’m all in for it! It’s an effective way to remain grounded in the nitty-gritty of product work. Something David Packles exemplified well during his time as a CPO at Playbook where I had the pleasure to work with him. Being a product leader shouldn't be only about leading product teams, but also doing the work - especially the one that needs to be done but no one else wants / knows how to do 😅 Lastly, the conversation touched on something that resonates strongly with me - crafting a well-defined IC career ladder for product managers. Career development in product shouldn't only be about climbing the corporate ladder to become a manager, but should also enable honing the core competencies that make you progress as a product person. Establishing a solid IC career ladder is something companies need to start thinking of. The challenge is, that right now the incentives are distributed around climbing the ladder through the managerial path - which isn't for everyone. For me, product work is the most fun part and the reason why I signed up for a career in product management. CTA: Would love to hear your take, if creating a separate ladder for ICs is a way to go, or should we blend the IC work with leadership work to shape the future of product management? 🤔 Ps. If you're looking for someone who strives in the intersection of product and growth - I'm looking for new challenges - so check out my website (CTA under my name), Ps.2. If you're not looking, share my profile with someone who is actively looking 🙏 #ProductManagement #CareerDevelopment #Leadership #IndividualContributor #Reforge https://lnkd.in/dYw_UXXa

Just listened to Brian Chesky's fascinating take on Airbnb's radical transformation in this podcast episode https://lnkd.in/grQ7h3U6 Chesky's move to a centralist, CEO-led model ditched traditional norms, including sidelining product management in favor of a more streamlined approach. This shift aimed at speeding up decision-making and fostering alignment, echoing Steve Jobs' influence on Chesky. 🤔 What are your thoughts on this unconventional approach? Do you believe a centralized decision-making model led by the CEO can enhance innovation and agility in product development? #ProductManagement #Innovation #LeadershipTransformation #CEOInsights #ProductDevelopment
