Touchdown in Las Vegas! Reporting live from inside Licensing Expo 2024 and representing Carnival Cruise Line Entertainment! Looking forward to forging new connections and continuing the work to expand our portfolio of partners. In seeking new partnerships, intentionality and true alignment across brands is key. Cultivating partnerships that will yield new and exciting activations for our guests is paramount. That being said, it’s imperative to also be strategic and identify the “why.” Why do you perceive a particular brand or organization to be a good fit for a potential partnership with your company? What elements of the partnership would entice new consumers and repeat clientele? How can you innovate together within your respective industries? How can your collaboration drive increased revenue? How could said partnership positively impact your community and/or the bottom line? The aforementioned are just a few thought-starters, but, they provide a framework through which to target opportunities and allow me to start thinking about the partnership’s potential viability and scope. Every picture has a story but this one has a book !!! … We met and worked together at Rotana Hotels & Resorts and for some of us even before that in Abu Dhabi Hilton and the bond continues❤️ Each one contributed to a very energizing & insightful 2 days …Amal & Sathis who helped curate the 2 day content, Chris, Dominic and Ralph who delivered a great 2 sessions, Tarek who crafted the venue experience, Angie who managed the smooth “ speakers” experience, and Sascha who has been our ROC evangelist over the past 6 years !!! Does this tell a story about the people, event, association, industry or region or a mixture, I am not sure but what i am so sure of is how privileged & blessed I am as a person …. Sure I got the mentions and achnowkedment for our annual conference #ROCME2023 and yes it had to be delivered to perfection & better than last year but that’s not the story but it’s that deep sense of appreciation, gratittude & blessfullness that I woke up ( very early) with to my x and current colleagues as well as the hundreds more that crafted & curated our annual conference where a simple 2 words is the story “ #thankyou 🙏

Do you want to be a better Live Event Professional? Do you want to know what it takes to make it in the business? I've posted a variety of Lessons Learned in the past year but I'm going to change things up a bit now and instead of posting a list of things, I'm going to focus each post on one single lesson learned in my time and elaborate on it. Today's Lesson. Learn from the bottom up. I started in college as a part time event staff employee. Today, I have been in the business for 30+ years and have worked thousands of events. I'm glad I spent years in a concession stand, years in a parking lot, years in front of house positions showing people to their seats and taking tickets. These experiences have taught me how to be a better professional. I understand what nearly everyone on the team is dealing with in their day to day. I learned things that still help me today that were not obvious at the time. Dealing with guests, staff management, accounting, inventory control, planning ahead, budgeting, you name it. These are all skills that I still use every day. It is easy to get impatient and want to grow faster, or see others advancing faster than you may be and wonder why it is not happening for you. Take a deep breath. If you want to be in the business, and have a career, sometimes it is a game of patience. You are only competing with yourself and the best that you can be, no one else. We all grow at different paces. Embrace the role you are in, I was an Ops guy for 5 years in an amphitheatre and thought I had it all figured out after the 2nd year, but then I kept going and I was still finding ways to grow and improve after year 5. No matter how good you may be today, you can still get better. Keep grinding and your opportunities will come.
