Hot take: Simply saying ‘Thank You for Your Service’ is NOT enough for our veterans. If you want to stand out, you have to do more. I agree that showing gratitude is essential, but it’s not everything. Here is the mini masterclass on standing out in veteran advocacy and restoring faith in service rewards: 1. Understand Their Needs Engage in conversation and learn about the challenges veterans face. Here is how to do it: - Ask open-ended questions - Be patient and non-judgmental - Show empathy 2. Advocate for Improved Benefits Promote the need for better healthcare, education, and job opportunities for veterans. Here is how to do it: - Lobby with lawmakers - Use social media platforms to raise awareness - Collaborate with veteran advocacy groups 3. Lift the Stigma Work towards reframing the ‘veteran’ title, bridging the gap between veterans and civilians. Here is how to do it: - Share positive stories about veterans - Educate others on the value of military service - Create inclusive community events 4. Support Veteran-Owned Businesses Boost the economy and provide job opportunities by supporting and promoting veteran-owned businesses. Here is how to do it: - Shop at veteran-owned businesses - Help them network - Offer mentorship and resources 5. Provide Emotional Support Recognize that many veterans deal with emotional and mental health issues. Here is how to do it: - Be a good listener - Encourage professional help - Offer companionship and understanding Which one is your favorite and why? Let’s start this conversation and make a real difference in the lives of our veterans. #VeteranAdvocacy #MilitaryBenefits #SupportOurTroops

You've heard it before, but let's break the stigma! 💪 It's time to normalise men showing emotions, reaching out for a chat, and asking for help. 🤗 You don't have to go it alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, reach out for support. A great place to start is Open Arms - Veterans & Families Counselling 💬💙 #MentalHealthMatters #SupportMen #Veterans #TYFYS #VeteranSupport #AustralianVeterans #VeteranHealth #VeteranMentalHealth

When I started Wisdom Strategy I was still focused on where I thought I could make an impact. Essentially, helping #veterans with resumes and job searches. However, as I have traveled on my own path I see that is not where I can make the biggest impact. Shifting to be aligned with my own heart-led desire to help veterans heal, Wisdom Strategy is now focusing on ending stigmas around mental health treatments, specifically psychedelics, for veterans and all people who need them. If you agree please consider giving Wisdom Strategy a follow.
When Wisdom Strategy started it was a way to help #veterans with their transition from uniform to the civilian world. This idea was around sharing the experiences of our team in their own journey from #militaryservice to #civilian life. That mission always remains the same to help veterans succeed and thrive. However, the focus now is around education, advocacy, and assitance with bringing #psychedelictherapy and #psychedelicresearch to the mainstream and breaking the stigmas and barriers that "Nixon era" #drug politics engrained in our society. The time is now for a change in how we help veterans (and all people) heal from their traumas. There is no stigma around struggle, there is no stigma around asking for help. Wisdom Strategy is proud to work at the front of this goal. Have questions? Contact us.

Though the total number of homeless veterans has decreased in the past four years, homelessness among women veterans has increased by nearly 24 percent. The number of unsheltered women veterans has increased by nearly 48 percent during the same time period. What factors contribute to women veteran homelessness? And what programs does the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs offer to help? Find out in this article from VA News: https://lnkd.in/epnmMiJh. #SoldierForLife #USArmySFL #WomenVeterans #VeteranHomelessness

Did you know that Veterans are largely distributed where VA facilities are not? About 50% are found in the 2621 counties lowest in health care workforce with 40% of the population and 45% of each of the worst health plans due to concentrations of elderly, poor, disabled, and weakest employers. Medicare/Medicaid/CMS designs have closed hundreds of hospitals and countless practices over 40 years in these 2621 counties - one of many reasons that Veterans access care less than they should. The concentrations of worst public and private insurance plans shape deficit of workforce and access that hurt everyone, particularly those with many factors stacked against their care. There is indication that veterans are slightly more likely to arise from areas that have lower paying employers. The 2621 counties most behind do have weaker employers. Many seek military careers due to better "employment." Those seeking better from these counties are joined by many from families that have a tradition of military service. Veterans make a number of financial, physical, and mental sacrifices that force them to move to lower cost counties that have available housing. They must depart higher concentration counties where costs of living are worst and where available housing is in decline. They chose military service and their investment and income opportunities were reduced. Veterans map out as Red County distributed for most in 2016 maps and VA facilities are Blue County major metro - about as far away from the well distributed veteran population as possible. The 2621 counties lowest in health care workforce map out as Red Counties with rural (40 million) and urban (90 million) populations but include the bluest of the blue rural counties predominantly Native American, African American, and Border Hispanic Understand the financial, physical, and mental forces shaping the lives of veterans and sending them to lower cost of living - and counties lowest in health care workforce. Home visits in rural and urban AZ revealed veterans as in some of the worst living conditions - condemned urban apartments, trailer homes with roof holes And we know about the delays in care, administrative cover ups, employees with lower pay but great benefits (and lower volume), and the Health Info conversion problems So expect to see more Veterans in CHCs and our most financially challenged practices if you are employed by a CHC or practice in the 2621 counties most behind, because you are more likely to be where they are.
Happy Fourth of July! Community Health Centers are proud to serve 400,000 veterans annually and thank them for fighting for the freedom we celebrate today. #ValueCHCs

Independence Day is just around the corner! As we approach the celebrations, let's be mindful that this time of year can be tough for individuals with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), particularly veterans, refugees and survivors of domestic violence. Fireworks, though celebratory for some, can trigger immense #stress for others. Let's show compassion and create mindful celebrations. Instead, consider quieter, inclusive ways to honor our traditions that promote #joy without causing unintended harm. Together, we can create a compassionate community that respects and understands each other's experiences. #MentalHealth #Support #CommunityEmpowerment #MentalHealthAwareness #SupportAndCare #acaringvoiceforyou #veterans #refugees #independenceday #PTSD #domesticeviolence
