Been There provides a safe space for people who are struggling with their body image to speak to a Mentor who understands because they have 'been there' too. If people would only realise that mental health services and charities are the link to all the other charities and can support them all, and also increase the others successes… for example, many mental health sufferers struggle to maintain routine and clean their teeth… no amount of education will change that, mental health support however, can… The other charities you could vote for, when they occur and are bad, often the majority need mental health support for them and their families to cope… which also further increases the odds of successful treatments and surgeries… while also increasing the standard of mental aftercare! But mental health services also aid in people becoming healthier, more active and less likely to contract the issues other charities support… thus aiding in prevention and causing the other charities to have less strain on them and need less resources to have great success… The brain, is the most important aspect of the body… it doesn’t just retain information… it also promotes or demotes physical health, decision making and ability to cope with stress and daily life…

I run a non-profit called the Half a Sorrow Foundation. We get our name from the old proverb that goes like this: A shared joy is a double joy; a shared sorrow is half a sorrow. ------ Our mission is to improve mental health for individuals and organizations by promoting real conversations. We focus on suicide prevention, but the real target is the stigma that surrounds mental health. Stigma goes away, and we share more of our sorrows. From strained relationships to academic struggles and occupational challenges, the repercussions are far-reaching. The Big Give Christmas Challenge goes live in one week. From 12pm on 28 November until 12pm on 5 December, every penny you give through the Big Give website will be doubled. This service aims to support healthy recovery and prevent deterioration into a mental health crisis or emergency.
