In the journey of foster care, we traverse through many paths – some steep and rocky, others smooth and lined with blossoms. But regardless of the terrain, one thing remains constant: the resilience and hope that springs eternal in the hearts of those who open their homes and lives to children in need. Today, on the blog, we're talking about a crucial aspect of this journey: mental health in foster care and how nurturing creates a canopy of hope and strength for foster children and parents. https://lnkd.in/eMXcRhJH #KamaliiFosterFamilyAgency #Kamalii #FosterCare #Kids #Children #Support #Family #Teenager #Community #Blog #FamilyBlog #ParentingBlog

Recently, I've had numerous conversations with churches involved in foster care ministries. This commitment to helping children in foster care is important and reflects the love and compassion at the heart of the church. However, a question arises: What if we could reach families before their children are taken away? The heart of God is not just about extending love to children, but also to their families. Families in crisis aren't usually monsters; more often, they are caught in the throes of deep pain and poverty. If the church believes in grace, shouldn't this grace extend to these struggling parents as well? It's often easier to show love towards children, as we see them as innocent and more deserving of our compassion. But let's remember, the Biblical message is not just for the 'innocent' – God's grace is meant for everyone. We, as the church, are called to live this truth. We are not innocent ourselves yet grace was extended to us. I envision a church that actively engages in God's mission to serve and support vulnerable families, striving to keep them together. This is not just about providing after-the-fact care through foster ministries but proactively extending our support to prevent these families from being torn apart. I believe it's time for the church in America to awaken to this broader vision of service. Let's be the hands and feet of a grace that knows no bounds, reaching out to every member of the family with love, support, and understanding, and embody the ministry of Jesus not just in words but in actions. #family #poverty #church #justhelp #childwelfare #fostercare

#Every child deserves the safety, security, and unconditional love that only a permanent family can provide. Yet, every year in the United States, about 20,000 young people #age #out of foster care without achieving this essential permanence. These youth, left to navigate life on their own, face significant challenges, including #higher #risks of homelessness, joblessness, early parenthood, and substance use. This is a #reality we cannot ignore. When we #support efforts to provide lasting, loving homes for older youth in foster care, we change the trajectory of their lives, offering them the stability they need to #thrive. Let’s #work #together to ensure no child leaves foster care without the security of a family. Whether through adoption, mentorship, or community support, each of us can play a role in making sure these young people have the foundation they #deserve. #Help us reach our goal of raising $10,000 in the month of August: https://lnkd.in/eGxQYYrm #Join #us in this critical mission to provide forever families for all children. Because every child deserves a family—no exceptions. #FosterCare #Adoption #YouthSupport #ForeverFamily #CommunityAction

May is here! Together we can make a difference in the lives of youth in foster care. Did you know that kinship care can be a wonderful option when a child needs to be placed in foster care? Kinship care means a child is placed in the home of a loving relative, like grandparents, aunts, uncles, or even close family friends, instead of strangers. Kinship care provides a familiar and supportive environment for children in need of foster care, keeps them connected to the people they love, and yields better outcomes for the children long term. Let's improve how we engage, support, and prepare all youth, including those in kinship care, to transition out of care into adulthood and independent living. #FosterCareMonth #KinshipCare #Family

Instead of staying with a family they may not know, some children stay with relatives or close family friends when placed into foster care. The kinship care providers must still be vetted by the state like normal foster families, but it allows children to stay within their family network with people who already know them well. Fostering: The Positive Impact on a Child's Life 🌟 Fostering has a profound, life-changing effect on children in need. Every child deserves a stable, loving environment, but for the 60,000 children in care in the UK (as of 2023), this isn't always the case. Becoming a foster parent can change that. Research shows that children in foster care benefit greatly from supportive families. 70% of children in stable foster placements see improved academic performance and emotional well-being. They are also 50% less likely to experience homelessness in adulthood, according to a study by The Fostering Network. 💙 Every child deserves the chance to thrive, and fostering is a way to help them build resilience, gain confidence, and have a brighter future. If you've ever thought about fostering or want to learn more, drop me a message! Together, we can change the course of a child's life. 💫 #FosteringChangesLives #BeTheChange #MakeADifference

1 TO 10 CHILDREN IN THE WORLD NEED YOU AND ARE WAITING FOR YOU More than 700,000 children in WORLD are permanently and legally separated from their biological parents and seeking a new family to call their own. Adoption is a social, emotional, and legal process through which children become full and permanent members of another family, giving the new parent(s) the same rights and obligations as biological parents. Adoption is also multifaceted, occurring in different ways to meet the specific needs of children. For example, kinship adoption by blood relatives or fictive kin who have an emotional connection with the child is one way for Virginia’s children to stay connected to their family, culture and traditions. Foster parents in Virginia also often become forever families to children and have adopted over 60% of our youth in foster care. In Chance Orphanage , we prioritize reunifying children with their families whenever possible, and finding kinship caregivers or new, loving families for children when reunification is not possible. Again,We ask that you consider getting curious – about everything you know or think you know about adopting a child (or children!). Consider opening your heart and home to a child. Consider adoption.
