What is sustainable agriculture? Fundamentally, there are two types of agriculture in the world, monoculture and polyculture. 1. Monoculture (anti-biodiversity agriculture) destroy biodiversity in soil with tillage and chemical herbicides and pesticides, to maximise profit of the input manufacturing industries. This is unsustainable agriculture. 2. Polyculture (biodiversity based agriculture) totally relies on biodiversity of living organisms such as plants, animals and microorganisms for crop production and crop protection. This is sustainable agriculture. FAO should start research on polyculture for sustainability and resilience of agriculture.

Unless we create government forms that have an internal audit network and can be audited from outside and authorize these forms in higher administrative areas, it is not possible to achieve these goals. In order for the right projects to be funded, there needs to be equal opportunities in project production and selection. I hope FAO and similar institutions can change their policies in this direction.

Achieving a food-secure world requires collective action, innovation, and sustainable agricultural practices. Strengthening partnerships, investing in climate-smart agriculture, and empowering smallholder farmers will be key to better production, nutrition, and environmental sustainability. Together, we can build resilient food systems that leave no one behind!

Excellent goals. We can achieve these by developing crop production systems that do NOT rely on pesticides, inorganic fertilizers, or patented seeds. It's time to shift from the high input chemical agriculture, green revolution of the 1960s to sustainable agricultural systems or practices.

Can we all work together in this fragmented world? How wishful thinking is really going to solve the problem of food scarcity? This needs much more thinking and real effort.
