3 in 10 parents say their children are eating less fruit than they were last year, according to a new survey from FareShare run by YouGov. The survey results showed that a third of parents were buying less fresh fruit now than a year ago as the cost-of-living crisis continues to put pressure on household budgets. A quarter of parents also said that their children would eat less fresh fruit during the summer holidays, at a time when families face additional costs for childcare and food while schools are closed. Debbie Fixter, manager of Sprouts Community Food Charity in Teesside, which receives food from FareShare, said: “We often have people telling us that they would love to be able to buy the fruits the children like but just can’t afford it.” With food demand surging over the holidays, this summer your support is crucial. By donating to FareShare, providing food, or volunteering with us, you are helping to create 'first tastes' for children and young people across the UK. Join us in powering the UK’s charities that rely on food to strengthen their local communities this summer, by donating, volunteering with us or providing food 👉 https://lnkd.in/eYCVgJRP 💚

Families receiving diapers from Little Essentials were interviewed as part of a larger, national study of the economic impact of diaper banks. The study found that when families receive diapers, more families are able to work or attend school, health care spending is reduced, and children are healthier. Little Essentials provides diapers at no cost to families experiencing diaper need: the inability to provide a sufficient supply of diapers to keep a baby clean, dry, and healthy. According to The NDBN Diaper Check 2023, 1 in 2 families struggles to afford diapers. With the help of our donors we can help families achieve self-sufficiency. "48 Hours" can be the difference between a life of heartache and a life of hope. Alone, scared, hungry, out of money, and often without an I.D – newly homeless and at-risk youth will make bad decisions that they can’t take back... unless our Street Outreach volunteers find them first. For the month of April, they will work harder than ever to hit known hotspots (under bridges, bus stations, city parks) to distribute sleeping bags, clothing, food packs, and hygiene products and connect these kids with emergency housing, outreach centers and vital resources and referrals. We want them to know they have options, that there is a way out, and there are caring adults who believe in them – so they can move forward with hope. Need help or know a youth who does? 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐮𝐬? The escalating cost of living is casting a detrimental effect on Stoke & Newcastle. As household bills and food expenses steadily climb, household incomes fail to keep pace. Economic hardship is increasingly prevalent, particularly among the most vulnerable members of our communities. Recent statistics reveal a concerning reality – seven of Staffordshire's most economically disadvantaged neighbourhoods are located in Stoke-on-Trent. Among them, Hanley & Etruria stands out with the lowest disposable household income across the entire county. 📢 Support Urgently Needed as Back-to-School Costs Soar in Donegal 📢 As the back-to-school season approaches, families across Donegal are feeling the intense pressure of rising education-related expenses. To help ease this burden, the Donegal Food Response Network, supported by the Donegal Local Development Company (DLDC), has urgently launched a back-to-school appeal for donations to support local community groups and the families most affected by these financial pressures. 🌟 How You Can Help: The Donegal Food Response Network, made up of 21 community organisations across the county, is asking for your support through donations of food, school supplies, vouchers, and cash. These contributions will be distributed to local families struggling to make ends meet during this challenging time. 📉 Shelves Are Bare: As the demand for assistance has skyrocketed, community groups that typically maintain emergency supplies are finding their shelves increasingly bare, leaving many families needing more support. 📍 Find Your Nearest Food Bank: To support your community, visit www.donegalfoodresponse.ie to find details of your nearest food bank. Donations of food, school supplies, or cash can be made directly to these local food banks. 💻 Donate Online: For those unable to visit in person, donations can also be made online through the iDonate pages of individual community groups. Links to these pages are available on www.donegalfoodresponse.ie making it easy for anyone to contribute, no matter where they are. 💙 #BackToSchoolSupport #DonegalCommunity #DonateNow #supportlocalfamilies #WeCareFoodBank #CaraHouseFamilyResourceCentre #CFFAM #ÁrainnMhór #RossesCDP #TheDoorwayProject #PreSchoolAndAfterSchoolChildcare #FamilyResourceCentreRaphoe #CloughaneelyFoodBank #InishowenDevelopmentPartnership #TheMustardSeed #DFRC #Donegal #SpraoiAgusSpórt #FinnValleyFRC #ClonmanyCommunityCentre #AnMachaireLeChéile
