I attended the Public Consultation last night (7/11/2024) regarding Wyre Forest District Council's outrageous decision to sell the Bridge Street Car Park. This short-sighted move risks destroying years of planning and investment in Stourport’s redevelopment. Selling this car park would BLOCK the completion of the Stourport Basin regeneration, a project that has been in the making for years and aparently remains a key part of Wyre Forest’s Local Plan that was adopted in 2022. This vision includes walkable connections between the town and basin, with cafes, restaurants, public spaces, and much-needed tourism and business opportunities. Let us not forget: the original Stourport Basin project was part-funded by Advantage West Midlands (AWM), development agency that aimed to regenerate our local economy. Now, with Stourport recently awarded Heritage Inland Port status, we have a HUGE opportunity to boost tourism, create jobs, and support local businesses. Why risk all this Wyre Forest District Council for a quick sale?
