Passionate leader driving economic development & transformational change initiatives with Social Innovation, entrepreneurial equity, & ingenuity. Enabled by integrated systems with research, business, and policy.
Anticipate. This is critical for retention and growth. Anticipate the needs of your peers/colleagues so you become a stronger partner. Anticipate the needs of those above and below you so you become a better leader. Being able to anticipate creates space to identify gaps, needs, and allows for a greater space for business acceleration (which should lead to more job satisfaction supports). Meg Brennan excels at anticipation. She studies. She learns. She grows. Yes, this makes her phenomenal as a data analyst, but it makes her an even stronger teammate. As my teammate, I trust her to lead the unit and to drive Social Innovation even further.

How can we empower underserved farmers with affordable, innovative agtech solutions? Our #VentureFellows 2024 cohort member SEED - Sustainable Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Development is democratizing agriculture technology with affordable soil remediation solutions. Founded by Sabrina Williams 🌱, CEO, SEED is a Certified B-Corp focused on closing the digital poverty gap experienced by underserved farmers—mostly represented by Black, Brown, Indigenous, and women farmers—in some of the hottest and most polluted urban and developing communities. 🌱 Sabrina Williams 🌱 shares: “Smallholders of color grow most of the world’s food. Some need tools that lift them out of subsistence, others need tools that abate pollution. All of them need simple, smart, affordable tools that privilege traditional knowledge, uphold self-determination, and increase incomes. At SEED, those tools are the #agtech that lies at the vibrant intersection of environmental progress and food justice.” SEED’s soil carbon sensor delivers real-time, ground-truthed data for remediation and increased yields, ensuring these farmers are not left behind due to cost or access to innovation. We are proud to support SEED and their dedication to creating impactful solutions for environmental progress and food justice. 🌍 Venture Fellows offers a no-cost, nine-month accelerator program providing guidance, resources, and funding to scale solutions for community-centric climate action. From mentoring to pilot support and up to $25,000 in project funding, we're here to support innovators driving solutions addressing challenges like clean energy, food security, and sustainable cities. Needfinding: The Key to Building Impactful Solutions August was a transformative month for me as I focused entirely on refining my start-up, SustainaFeeds Organics, using insights from the beVisioneers: The Mercedes-Benz Fellowship fellowship. One concept that truly shaped my approach is Needfinding—a process that goes beyond assumptions to uncover the core needs, pains, and bright spots within the community when you're solving a problem. What is Needfinding? Needfinding is the practice of deeply understanding the actual needs of the people you're designing solutions for. It's not just about identifying surface-level problems but diving into the underlying causes and motivations of your target audience. Why is it Important? 1. Relevance: Solutions are only impactful if they meet real needs. By engaging with the community, you discover what truly matters. 2. Sustainability: Solutions rooted in actual needs tend to have a longer-lasting impact because they address core issues, not symptoms. 3. Innovation: Needfinding often uncovers unique insights that lead to more creative and innovative solutions. 4. User-Centered Approach: It ensures that your product or service is designed with empathy, keeping the end-users in mind at every stage. For me, need-finding has been essential in aligning SustainaFeeds Organics with the true needs of poultry farmers in Kilifi, Kenya. As I continue this journey, I invite fellow innovators to adopt this mindset—it’s a game-changer in creating solutions that truly serve. If you're interested in learning more about my project, feel free to explore it here: https://lnkd.in/dyfPtkCd #Needfinding #Innovation #SocialEntrepreneurship #CircularEconomy #ClimateAction #beVisioneers #SustainaFeeds #EmpathyInDesign
