Nosh Winter LA is one of the best weeks of the year in the natural foods industry. It’s an annual conference for natural food brands, investors, retailers and other stakeholders in LA. This year was extra special because I was selected to pitch Fair & Square in the Pitch Slam Finals! I was competing against some of LA’s shiniest new brands, including Aadit Patel at Confusion Snacks, Mansour Arem at Zwïta, Yasameen Sajady, MBA at Maazah, Ben Bacon at Lentiful and Lex Evan® at LEXINGTON BAKES. While we definitely were competing to win, there was a magic to this competition. Everyone shared their wins, struggles, and pain points with each other before and after the competition. We talked about what’s working, what’s not and founders ahead of us like Ayeshah Abuelhiga at Mason Dixie Foods gave us pointers. The magic of why I work in this industry was in full force with founders, investors and retailers all chiming in and helping each other. The exciting change this year was the launch of the Nosh pantry. For the entire two day conference, there was product available for people to take and nosh on at any time. We were able to put out our new sweet sku’s and watch from afar as people checked out the packaging. After they tried it, I was able to ask them what they thought of the product and get some incredible feedback. These types of interactions are just as important as spreading the word to our industry partners because in my mind, every person is a potential customer. Thank you Carol Ortenberg Mike Schneider Jeff Klineman (he/him) for bringing us all together! I am thrilled to share my story with you today. 14 years ago, I was at my lowest point, living in my mother's basement with less than $100 in my pockets. But instead of giving up, I made a conscious decision to persevere and maintain a positive mindset. And let me tell you, it was the best decision I ever made. I am living proof that success is not an overnight achievement. It takes hard work, dedication, and a commitment to the process. However, I promise you that it is worth it. Keep pushing, keep striving, and success will absolutely come. Trust the journey, respect the process, and have patience. You are exactly where you are meant to be in life, and with the right attitude, the sky is truly the limit. Today, I owe my success to a variety of factors, including my faith, my family, my wonderful wife, my Teams,my passion for entrepreneurship, and my incredible mentors who have guided me every step of the way. I am so grateful for all of these blessings and am excited to see what the future holds. Speaking of the future, there is so much to celebrate right now! We are thrilled to welcome our National Director of Sales on board and are closing in on our new expansion footprint. Plus, we are setting new global goals at our world pasta headquarters in both the frozen and refrigerated spaces. And let's not forget about the upcoming Pizza Expo in Vegas - we can't wait to meet our customers and share our love for delicious, quality Pizza and Pasta… So, to sum it all up: stay motivated, persevere, trust in the journey, and always put your teams before your dreams. First, I truly believe that this brand is one of the best tasting energy drinks on the market. I am committed to making sure this brand is growing and is available across the country in all our leading retailers. If this product is not available, how can they experience the brand. I wake up every day energized to find ways for our retail partners to bring on ZOA Energy. BDE is a mindset that I carry across the organization to inspire others. 2. What is your favorite thing about working at ZOA? Definitely the people and the culture that has been developed here over the last 3 years. I come to work energized by the folks that surround me every day. By far, this has been the most fun and rewarding job I have had. Make no mistake, it's never easy but coming to work everyday here has been a moment in time that I will never forget. 3. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? It would have to be pasta. Any type. I cannot imagine not having an option in a meal selection that does not have pasta. I absolutely loved my mom’s homemade pasta sauce. 4. What is your favorite ZOA flavor and why? Frosted Grape. Can’t really figure out why, as grape has never really been a favorite flavor of mine but I LOVE ZOA Frosted Grape. 5. What is your biggest Big Dwayne Energy moment? Two moments stick out for me. First would be our XFL tie in with HEB. We had the opportunity for our founders meet and greet at HEB in-store and then experienced the XFL championship game with all in San Antonio. Second would be a most recent win, bringing Albertsons Companies on board nationally.
