Deputy Secretary for Agriculture and Immigrant Workforce at California Labor & Workforce Development Agency
Today, we heard testimony from workers and advocates on the need to improve enforcement of our laws in agricultural workplaces. I testified before the Assembly Labor and Employment Committee on the steps we have taken at LWDA and plan to take in collaboration with our departments to improve our enforcement efforts with regards to farmworkers. We are moving forward on strategies to: 1) increase access to in-person services so that farmworkers can easily engage our enforcement agencies in their communities ; 2) create a no-wrong door policy so that workers do not need to navigate the maze that can be enforcement; and 3) create outreach materials that are culturally and linguistically accessible to farmworkers. This is just the start! https://lnkd.in/g4x_CYbC

Voting is a powerful way to influence the policies that affect hunger—and early voting gives you even more time to research candidates and make informed choices. At Second Harvest Heartland, we shared this message with attendees at the Minnesota State Fair, where many were surprised by how deeply hunger is tied to the decisions made by elected officials. The advocacy team has been at the forefront of these conversations, helping people understand that by voting early, they can ensure their voice is heard in shaping a hunger-free future. Early voting isn’t just convenient—it’s impactful. Your vote can change the policies that shape food security in our communities. Pledge to vote today: https://bit.ly/4daFYLC #HungerIsAPolicyChoice #EarlyVoting #VoteToEndHunger

🔍 A Closer Look at Impact 🔍 Coalitions are not just support networks; they are powerful engines for legislative change. By uniting voices from various sectors to advocate for common goals, coalitions can push for policy reforms that might otherwise be unachievable by individual organizations. The journey from concept to legislation is fraught with challenges, but coalitions navigate this path with resilience and determination, demonstrating the undeniable power of collective advocacy. At TWG, we believe in harnessing this power to create a fairer, more just society for all. #LegislativeChange #CollectivePower #PolicyReform
