A successful job search is more than just sending out CVs. It’s a strategy! Recently, I helped a Senior Director land their ideal role. One thing I’m always asked—by this Director and many others—is: How do I go about searching for a new job? Here are some top tips for a job search strategy that works: ☑️ Target Specific Roles: Don’t apply to everything. Focus on roles that align with your skills and goals. Tailor your CV and LinkedIn profile for each position. ☑️ Leverage Your Network: Reach out to your connections. Many jobs are never advertised. Your network can be key to finding those hidden opportunities. ☑️ Optimise Your LinkedIn Profile: Make sure your profile is keyword-rich and fully up-to-date. Recruiters and AI systems are constantly scanning profiles for the right talent. ☑️ Stay Active on LinkedIn: Engage with posts, share industry insights, and comment on discussions. An active profile gets more visibility. The Director I worked with didn’t just apply randomly. They followed a clear strategy, stayed focused, and networked consistently. By approaching their job search with a plan, they secured a fantastic new role. Solutions to Streamline Your Job Search: 1️⃣ Evaluate Your Current Practices: Analyze which methods yield the best results and focus your energy there. For example, if you are spending all your time on Indeed but not finding any jobs that are suitable for your experience level or desired salary, shift to a job board like LinkedIn that features more professional roles. 2️⃣ Directly Connect with Hiring Managers: Don't be afraid to reach out directly to key managers at your target companies. Personal connections can make a difference. 3️⃣ Explore Unconventional Solutions: Look beyond traditional job boards, where the vast majority of job seekers are looking for a new role. Instead, consider tapping into your existing network, expanding your reach, gaining new contacts, and contacting key decision-makers directly. 4️⃣ Take Your Time: Quality applications beat quantity. Spending even just 30 minutes to tailor each resume and application can lead to more interviews. Specifically, try to include 60-70% of the keywords from the job description in your resume to get past the screening computers. 5️⃣ Harness the Power of Your Network: Leverage personal and professional connections to gain more traction in your job search. Don't be nervous about reaching out to people you don't know yet. After all, most people on LinkedIn understand that it is a professional networking platform. Additionally, be sure to communicate regularly with your network to stay top-of-mind for referrals that lead to success.

Senior Manager at NTS Group | I Help Exceptional People Find Incredible Careers | Pharma & Biotech, FMCG & Healthcare | Executive Recruiter & Career Transition Expert | Middle East Joe.allport@ntsrecruitment.com 🎯🚀
Some advice from a couple of weeks ago that I thought I would re-post (mainly because I love the meme! But also the truth has to get out there). Despite what you might think, reaching out to recruiters and applying for jobs via LinkedIn is no longer a valid job search strategy. 5 years ago, you could pretty much sit back and opportunities could fall into your lap, well, not today. It's ultra-competitive out there right now for every single job, and trust me when I say, the pool of candidates in the Middle East job market is probably the highest in terms of quality you will find anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, if these two things are your strategy to land your dream job, you're not going to get much positive results either. Why, you ask? Let me break it down for you: 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗻'𝘁 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗬𝗼𝘂: Internal talent acquisition teams are on the rise, in fact, direct hiring now accounts for more than 85% of the job market, and this number is even higher in multinational companies. So if you want a job in a company of any real size, you the chances are, it wont be through a recruiter. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗜𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹: Believe it or not, more than 80% of the job market is not advertised. These are the hidden gems, the uncharted territories where your dream job might be hiding. You won't find them in your LinkedIn feed or on job boards. So with 8 out of every 10 jobs not being advertised, what's your strategy to tap into that market? So, What's the Solution? A Methodical Job Search Strategy! 🎯 If you're serious about finding the perfect job, it's time to get strategic: 💥 𝙉𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜: Connect with professionals in your field, attend industry events, and join online forums. Sometimes, it's who you know that leads you to that hidden opportunity. 💥 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝘽𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜: Optimize your LinkedIn profile and CV. Show the world what you're made of. Share your expertise and interests. You never know who's watching. 💥 𝘿𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙊𝙪𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝: Don't wait for jobs to be posted. Approach companies you admire, even if they're not hiring. Express your interest, and you might just create an opportunity. 💥 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙂𝙪𝙞𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚: Consider using a career transition company. They can provide valuable insights, guide your job search strategy, and leverage relationships to open doors for you. Remember, a methodical job search strategy is your ticket to uncovering those hidden opportunities and landing your dream job. It's time to take control of your career path and create your own luck. Looking for a job sucks. Especially right now. If you find yourself looking for a job, one of the best things that you can do for yourself is getting your LinkedIn profile updated and optimized. LinkedIn is one of the best resources that recruiters use to find and connect with active and passive talent. If you take the time to make sure your profile is complete, it can act as a passive search agent for you. By including the right kind of information, you'll be found by more companies and be more visible to the right people. Here's a list of things you can do to get started: 🔸Choosing a professional profile picture and header image 🔸Write a headline that includes your profession, and highlights where you specialize 🔸Fill out your summary like a short elevator pitch. 4-5 sentences that explains a little bit about what your background, where your strengths are, and what you're looking for. 🔸Complete your work history like you would on your resume. Include detail about what tools & technology you worked with. Recruiters often use the names of technologies in the job descriptions as keywords to search for you. Also include what kinds of projects you were involved with, and quantify your accomplishments. 🔸Fill out your degrees and certifications 🔸Showcase your skills with multimedia content such as videos, slideshows, and articles 🔸Engage with content that matters to you. Be polite. Avoid political discussions. This is a good place to start. What else would you add?
