As a child, growing up with feminism on the rise, days such as International Women's Day (IWD) gave promise and hope for equality in the workplace. Over the years, although I have personally experienced equal opportunity and had tremendous opportunity for growth, I am still aware of a large gap in society and in the workplace. This is the big unspoken gap that exists between working mothers and working women. Today on International Women's Day 2024, here is a reminder that womenhood is not always motherhood. As we approach International Women's Day, I plan to spend the next few days sharing some concerns that I constantly think about. I would really appreciate it if you (all readers, not only women) could share your opinions and concerns. Day 2: Actively Support Through Actions, Not Just Words While participating in discussions, posting on LinkedIn, and identifying ourselves as advocates for women are commendable actions, they alone are insufficient. We have to demonstrate our support through tangible actions. True advocacy is about genuinely empowering the women in our lives, enabling them to achieve their full potential. While brining awareness is valuable, but we should ask ourselves: do we actively support women in our day-to-day lives? How can we improve and become more effective allies? For now, my commitment is to continuously educate myself and actively enhance my efforts in promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). #dei #diversityequityinclusion #internationalwomensday

International Women's Day 2024 campaign theme is 'Inspire Inclusion' With well over a century of history and change, the first International Women's Day (IWD) was held in March 1911. IWD isn't country, group or organisation specific. It's a day of collective global activism and celebration that belongs to all those committed to forging women's equality.  World-renowned feminist, journalist and activist, Gloria Steinem, reportedly once explained: "The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organisation but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights." So together, let's all help fight the good fight. All IWD activity is valid, that's what makes IWD so inclusive. When men are deliberately engaged in gender inclusion programs, 96% of organizations see progress —compared to only 30% of organizations where men are not engaged. But many organizations still focus their #diversity and #inclusion efforts on women, or at best, invite men to attend events designed for women. To create more and better male allies, organizations and women’s advocates should recognize that allyship can take many forms and varieties. And men who want to be allies can focus on listening, support, and respect. Learn more.
