It's intriguing to observe a significant shift in the business approach of a major chip supplier and its relationship with key distributors.
Having spent seven years immersed in the distribution model for our product line, focusing on product planning and fulfillment, it's remarkable to note that over 95% of our revenue was generated through global and local distributors. Despite the challenges, like the stock rotation program, I found immense satisfaction in navigating this ecosystem.
My tenure as a procurement officer, particularly during ADI supply shortages, I had a difficult time in dealing with system-level BOM sourcing.
The transition of ADI to a supply-chain-only model, consolidating demand internally, presents an exciting prospect. This strategic shift could serve as a valuable benchmark for similar businesses in the chip-making industry.
