Alabama is taking a pioneering, demand-based approach to workforce development. The Talent Triad, focusing first on state personnel offices, is flipping the script—showing that progress in hiring doesn't have to hinge on a four-year degree. This is about making the hiring process fair and practical. It’s about ensuring qualifications genuinely align with job requirements. A new chapter for government hiring. A visionary model for the nation to consider. #EBSCOed #ALTalentTriad #AlabamaWorkforce #skillsbasedhiring

#MakeTheCase Every company or organization can become an inclusive employer - they often just need a road map for how to get started. 🌟 Cara Plus works with companies and nonprofits across the country on building workforce solutions and is developing a series of case studies that chronicle the stories of how companies launched and scaled inclusive employment initiatives. Like their cases, Wilmington Alliance works to advance an equitable workforce by identifying barriers, and addressing the challenges with the legal, hiring and retention practices, while actively advocating for policy changes and system-based solutions, at the state and national levels. We also facilitate and partner on employment fairs and expungement events and partner with Friendship House on a Fines and Fees Fund that provides financial assistance for costs that impede individuals’ movement through the expungement or pardon process. We actively support and further Second Chance Hiring and Delaware's Clean Slate Initiative, a bipartisan policy model that works to update and expand eligibility for arrest and conviction record clearance. We encourage companies to leverage the skills of all individuals to solve critical workforce needs. ➡️ Check out other case studies from Cara Plus at www.caraplus.org/case. #MakeTheCase #LetsGetToWork #WilmingtonAlliance

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Completely in support of this. When I was creating the recruitment process for the South of Scotland Enterprise Youth Advisory Forum, I decided to make the questions available in advance to the applicants we interviewed. My reasons for this were: ✨ it gave applicants a chance to prepare and properly think about the questions. This is a key requirement of our Forum Members who are sent pre-reading before the sessions we hold with them. Throughout my career I’ve met many a ‘blagger’ who can come up with convincing answers on the spot, but they’re often not properly thought through (and quite often, are untrue!). ✨I don’t take any joy in people feeling uncomfortable in an interview situation and firmly believe you can’t get the best out of people when they’re feeling really nervous. Let’s set people up to succeed, not fail. ✨I understand some people don’t think it’s right for interviewees to be given questions in advance and think it’s important for them to be able to ‘think on the spot’. From a personal perspective, I make decisions in my job every day, and I can confirm that they never involve me recalling a time in my career when I had to deal with a challenging situation (or similar!). ✨Sometimes our memories need a bit of time to warm up, and if someone were to suddenly be asked ‘tell me about a time when…?’, they might struggle to remember anything other than what they had for their breakfast that morning! That doesn’t make them any less intelligent or capable, it just means that maybe they’re a bit sleepy because they’ve been sleeping on a rubbish pillow for weeks, for example (and I can confirm that struggle is real!). All of the applicants we interviewed said they appreciated getting the questions in advance and that it made them feel more at ease. They were able to give good, relevant answers and they were less flustered when answering our follow up questions. We will take the same approach when we launch our new recruitment campaign to expand our Forum very soon. https://lnkd.in/esxrNFw4
