EPB and ORNL are building on a decade of collaboration with a new Collaborative for Energy Resilience and Quantum Science (CERQS). The new joint research effort will focus on utilizing Chattanooga’s highly advanced and integrated energy and communications infrastructure to develop technologies and best practices for enhancing the resilience and security of the national power grid while accelerating the commercialization of quantum technologies.

Have you heard of profile steering?... well now there is a stochastic version!... I'm thrilled to announce the publication of our paper, "Distributed Management of Energy Communities Using Stochastic Profile Steering," in the International Journal of Electrical Power and Energy Systems! This work explores a novel approach to managing energy communities using stochastic profile steering, a technique that optimizes energy use within a distributed network. This can lead to significant benefits for both the community and the grid as a whole. This research wouldn't have been possible without the collaboration of Aditya Pappu, Gerwin Hoogsteen, Johann Hurink and Marcos J. Rider. About 2.6 TW of planned power projects were seeking to connect to the U.S. grid at the end of last year, up 27% from the year before and representing twice as much as the country’s existing generating capacity, according to a report released Wednesday by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 I am thrilled to announce the publication of my first research paper titled "Evaluation of Dynamic Power Flow Control and Peer-to-Peer Energy Sharing of Community Microgrids Using PSS Sincal." This paper is the culmination of my Summer Research project at the Swinburne Siemens Energy Transition Hub, and it marks a significant milestone in my academic journey. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my incredible co-authors for their invaluable support and contributions: - Dr. Gokul Sidarth Thirunavukkarasu - Prof. Mehdi Seyedmahmoudian - Prof. Dr. Saad Mekhilef - Prof. Alex Stojcevski I am also deeply grateful to my family—my Mom, Dad, Brother, and Sister—for their unwavering support and motivation. In this paper, we explore peer-to-peer (P2P) energy sharing in community microgrids using PSS Sincal for power flow simulations. We tested four distinct scenarios: 1. Isolated Operation: Each community grid meets its power needs solely through PV generation. 2. Total Dependence on the Main Grid: Communities rely entirely on the main grid with no PV generation. 3. Partial PV Generation: PV systems partially meet power needs, supplemented by the main grid. 4. Surplus PV Generation: PV systems generate excess power for sharing. Our simulations demonstrated the effectiveness of our custom algorithm in enhancing energy distribution efficiency, stability, and the utilization of renewable resources. This study underscores the practical viability of P2P energy sharing in community microgrids and provides valuable insights for developing resilient and intelligent power networks. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) (DOE) is allocating $42 million for the Inertial Fusion Energy Science and Technology Accelerated Research (IFE-STAR) program. Led by researchers at Colorado State University, the University of Rochester, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the program aims to advance foundational inertial fusion energy science and technology.
