Yesterday was an impactful day for the NEXT generation of energy professionals. We started with our Emerging Energy Professionals workshop, where interns and seasoned professionals received a career boost. Attendees learned about networking (both online and in person), personal branding, effective communication, and crafting and delivering a personal elevator pitch. (Workshops in Midland - 7.15, Denver - 7.29, and OKC 7.31) Following the workshop, we hosted a Crüe Club E&P/Intern Connection Mixer with the goal of providing mentorship and career advice to soon-to-be-grads. Although the turnout wasn't as expected with current E&P professionals, we had great conversations and meaningful interactions. Afterward, Chris Carpenter and I took the group to a proper oilfield dinner, where we discussed what universities need from E&P Operators and OFS companies, the challenges they face in job hunting, and connecting with individuals and companies in the industry. The insights gained were invaluable, and we'll be using them to continue building the bridge between the next generation and current industry professionals. A big thank you to Cody Rodriguez (Iron Orchard Operating, LLC), Jon Giesbrecht (ProFrac Services) for attending and sharing your insights and perspectives, and to Chris Carpenter with LFS Chemistry for sponsoring the event and being so active in the Crue Club community. Both this generation and the next appreciate you. To help expand their professional networks, say hello and connect with the following interns: Allison Kalbfleisch - (Intelligent Wellhead Systems) Nathaniel Winingear - (bp) Raven Moreno - (Chevron) Dylan Wong - (Hess Corporation) E&P Operators/Industry Professionals: Get involved and make a difference...it's needed! #futureofenergy #networking #careerjourney #interns

Thank you, The Capital Times, for a great morning. Always learn something new at CapTimes breakfasts. 5 a-ha's from Badger Meter 's Kenneth Bockhorst. Highly innovative company that's 118-years old. Proof that old dogs can learn (and teach) new tricks. * Talent longevity has been a key competitive strength for Badger Meter. Ken is only the 6th CEO in 118 years, and they have a quarter-century club that meets regularly to celebrate employees with 25+ years tenure. * Studies show that once you know how much water you use, you'll start using 30% less! * Thoughts on bottled water. Ken had an interesting take. His customers work so hard to bring you clean, safe, drinkable water for about $2/day (avg utility bill), so the waste and expense that come with bottled water is just unnecessary. * On-demand talent for energy and water industry: It's an aging workforce, and younger talent comes with higher turnover, and in our country and globally, water infrastructure is aging. Therefore, companies like Badger Meter are always always on the hunt for talent, especially engineers, and has a super strong internship program to cultivate talent. * It would take $1 trillion to fully modernize the water infrastructure in the US. Wow. This means acquisitions and advancements in water quality are key for Badger Meter. 100% worth a snowy drive in, thanks to Mike Kornemann, Carrie Planert and team for your work on these great events.

We are delighted to welcome our summer interns to etasca. Throughout the Summer they will help build our models, further our thought leadership and work on client facing projects in various areas of energy and chemicals. We asked them for their insight into what challenges lie ahead for the industry. Lance Simandjoentak is a third year UCL chemical engineering graduate joining our team today! "A crucial concept that I find compelling is the conundrum of the energy trilemma. This revolves around three unique pillars: energy security, energy sustainability and energy affordability. It's clear that the three pillars cannot be thought of in isolation to one another, presenting a complex challenge. As an example, importing energy sources can supplement domestic inventory and enhance energy security but what happens when the energy security relies on external sources? This can lead to an over-dependence increasing vulnerability and exposure to geopolitical factors contributing to energy insecurity. Imported energy sources can also be subjected to import taxes and price fluctuations. For reference, in 2023, Europe experienced its biggest deficit in oil, where production only met 23% of its demand, gas production only 44% and coal production meeting only 58%. All at a time where Europe is trying to lead the way in the energy transition. The energy trilemma is just one of multiple prospects that challenge industry highlighting the importance of making energy supply affordable. A test case for this is the evolving CBAM regulation which increases energy sustainability factors but could have an impact on energy affordability. etasca is at the forefront of analysing both market elements and technology factors in the energy and chemical industries as they face up to this challenge. I'm looking forward to joining the team and learning more!"

Over the past few years, Getting Smart has been deeply engaged with the New Pathways framework, which empowers school leaders and communities to build systems that set students up for future success. Whether it's career exploration, client-connected projects, internships, or entrepreneurial experiences, the goal remains the same: connect learners to real-world opportunities and help them articulate the skills they've acquired. Mason Pashia's recent conversation with Cynthia Finley, Ph.D, Vice President of Workforce Strategy at the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC), highlighted the growing importance of green jobs. Cynthia shared her career journey and insights into how IREC is expanding awareness and access to green pathways. From developing career maps and micro-credentials to launching initiatives like the Solar Ready Vets program, IREC is making significant strides in preparing the future workforce for clean energy careers. These efforts align perfectly with the New Pathways framework, emphasizing the need for flexible and dynamic learning experiences that connect students to in-demand industries. Let's work together to build a sustainable and prosperous future for our students: https://lnkd.in/g3VRyXYx #GettingSmart #GettingSmartBlog #NewPathways #GreenJobs #CareerExploration #WorkforceDevelopment #CleanEnergy #EducationInnovation
