In order to meet the needs of our neighbors facing hunger, Feeding Louisiana conducted a survey of 477 people experiencing food insecurity. Some of the findings were expected, while others were surprising. Part of our mission to be a unified voice for Louisiana's hungry involves understanding the barriers they face when trying to access food and food assistance programs. Identifying these barriers is the first step to helping neighbors overcome them. Take a deeper dive into the survey findings here: https://ow.ly/Y0S850SCssZ

Fundraising Executive | Driving Impactful Change Through Strategic Giving | Championing Community Empowerment & Innovative Fundraising
Feeding America recently released our Map the Meal Gap Study—an annual, comprehensive view of how food insecurity varies across the U.S. As the only national study to provide county-level estimates of food insecurity and food costs, this study is a powerful tool for all of us to use to better understand hunger in our communities. It shows that food insecurity exists in every county, parish and congressional district in this nation, but it isn’t experienced equally. Food insecurity levels vary across regions, influenced by factors like unemployment and poverty rates as well as policies and practices rooted in history that continue to hold people back today. Some of the highest food insecurity exists right here in South Florida. This reality propels the mission and work that we do at Feeding South Florida®. Learn more about the results of the study here https://lnkd.in/eE_fB7im If you'd like to become a part of the solution in collaboration with Feeding South Florida, please contact me: avaulx@feedingsouthflorida.org or 954-518-1818.

The Greater Boston Food Bank understands that tackling food insecurity and its root causes means listening to those who have experienced it firsthand. And with 1 in 3 people reporting household food insecurity in the past year—a persistent statistic since pre-COVID—ongoing solutions are still needed. That’s why we’re proud to announce the release of our fourth annual statewide report, which focuses on lived experience and community-based solutions to address hunger in Massachusetts. Oregonians- even though it's a short legislative session this year, important anti-hunger opportunities are eat stake Please consider following the link to ask your representative to fund Summer EBT (here's why: https://lnkd.in/gpeRZfuq)
The Legislative Session is upon us and we must continue the dialogue about the necessity of advocating for policy changes. In short: food assistance alone cannot end hunger in our communities. We have to take action to prevent hunger from happening in the first place, requiring a systemic approach.
