Personal brand-building is (and has been) a valuable route to getting your name out into the professional world - getting in front of investors, placing yourself alongside a lot of smart people, and surrounding yourself with a like-minded audience. Friends and connections, Meridian, our startup, is considering offering anyone in KE the facility to build their personal brand with pro-grade equipment, supported by pro-grade editing, alongside some of Kenya's pro-grade influencers, completely for free (for the foreseeable future 😉). But before we launch our program, I have two questions for you; 1. If you're not already creating, what's stopping you today? 2. If you were to create, as soon as tomorrow, what would you want out of a "production-as-a-service" model? Would love your feedback in the comments -- feel free, otherwise, to DM me. :)

I recently heard a friend say that they'll be making 7 figures in revenue as soon as they launch their startup. While it's an exciting thought, we all know that it's not that easy. No startup starts printing money in the first month of their operations. To generate revenue, startups need to focus on marketing strategies that create memorable brand experiences, incentivize customers to refer new ones, make a strong brand community online, share valuable content to attract and engage, use guerrilla marketing tactics to create buzz, partner with other brands for joint promotions, and collaborate with influencers to reach new audiences. Remember, in the early stages of your startup, you have to be different and try unique ideas to get the attention of your audience. So, don't be afraid to think outside the box! What marketing strategies did you use to generate revenue for your startup? Share your thoughts in the comments below! Stay tuned for the next post where I'll be sharing something super exciting!

Content Creator - Host of the Rise Up Morning Show | 7 Years in Web3 | Contact for Sponsorship Opportunities & Multimedia Marketing
Marketing is not only an investment, it's a long term game - or it should be. This is especially true and important in Web3. I can't tell you how many times I've seen the classic "KOL Spam" model used, and how many time it's failed. Do. Not. Just. Pay. 50. Influencers. To. Shill. Viewers hate it, other creators hate it, it makes your brand look bad, and it AT BEST is gonna get you some 'flash in the pan' metrics. Influencer and creator marketing can be SUPER effective /if/ your brand and the creator are aligned with each other. It is 10x more efficient to establish long term partnerships with creators who understand marketing & business, than it is to just buy videos from people who couldn't care less about your company or your services. If an influencer or a creator isn't willing to spend time talking to you, getting to know you and your brand, and doesn't ask questions - run.

I joined a startup 10 months ago with no real marketing experience, no idea about marketing or influencers or how to make good compelling content, build out brands etc etc - NADA Posting the first video from the company page felt REALLY daunting and embarrassing and I was waiting to get flamed in the group chat. (I did) (lol) But besides the point - it takes time to build new skills and understand new industries. I think social media likes to portray that you have to be a multi zillionaire by 21 & can learn marketing in 5 days, hit £10k months and walk into a marketing director role within the snap of your fingers 🎀 Obviously, untrue and - you’re going to fail - it’s going to feel embarrassing - it takes time to become good at something Focus on learning & experimenting, and don't compare your day 10 to someone else's day 10,000 (had to include a LinkedIn-esque quote in this post) & don’t be afraid of people seeing you trying! Everyone has to start somewhere PS> I’m going to be sharing more tips about getting your foot into marketing, so stick around or don't :P #marketing #startup

The startup world was recently plagued by the idea of "playing-it-safe", and prominent influencers in this space have been spreading this idea relentlessly. They have come up with a "system" or a "process" to build startups. Yet startups keep failing. And when this happens, these influencers keep reinforcing the idea and validity of their process by saying how ignoring them was what caused the startups to fail. Let's face it: these startup influencers are mostly wrong, and if their process was so good, why aren't they implementing it by hiring people after investing their own money? Here is a gist of what their system/process is: It revolves around showing us how it is perfectly fine to have an unreliable and quickly-built MVP to "validate the idea": I strongly disagree with this. We must try to maximize quality and it is not wrong to spend extra effort for that. Ideas cannot be validated easily. And almost anything that we intuitively believe people may want can be sold successfully. What founders really need is a suitable marketing channel. This should be something that automatically finds the group of people who are most likely going to buy form them. It is not wrong to build a high-quality product, by spending a lot of time as long as you can easily identify your marketing channel. A marketing channel is any medium through which you can reach your potential customers. It is better to find a strategy or medium to reach your potential customers continuously and repeatedly.

There is not a one size fits all strategy that works for every artist. Social Media & Tik Tok is not the only way for an artist to become successful. Artist are not social media influencers and shouldn't be treated as such. Personally I have never listened to a song because an artist made a reel with it, telling me about their "story". The artist I became fans of, music was on RADIO or easily accessible. Not because they were making a POV video telling me who they are or why I should listen to their song. This new way of marketing is to tacky and a lot of times inauthentic, because artist will create fake scenarios to promote themselves. Lots of traditional ways to build: 1. Ads & Promo (no you don't need an audience first) 2. Playlisting 3. PR 4. Email Marketing 5. LinkedIn 6. Networking & Relationship building 7. Live Performances 8. College Radio 9. Collaborating with other artist and creators 10. Podcast and more!

Here are the top 3 blog growth myths that are probably holding back your tech startup 👇 Myth #1: Just publish great content and they will come. While high-quality content is essential, it's not a magic bullet. You need a strategic distribution plan to get your content in front of the right audience. Myth #2: Focus on quantity over quality. Sure, consistently publishing content is important, but churning out low-effort posts will only hurt your credibility. Focus on creating valuable, informative content that resonates with your target audience. Myth #3: Social media is the only way to promote your blog. Social media is a great tool, but it's not the only one. Explore other promotion channels like email marketing, guest blogging, and influencer outreach. #techstartup #bloggingtips #contentmarketing #startups #growthhacking

UNPOPULAR OPINION: Content doesn’t sell everything, especially if the context is missing in the right place and the right time. Brands now realize that not everything that entertains, sells. The focus has shifted from selling to providing value. And this value can come from podcasts, documentaries, tutorials, news articles, etc. In other words, editorial marketing. EM is bringing a much needed shift in focus from viral, short term trends to content that is more stable, valuable and sustainable in the long term. The quality of users attracted is also significantly improving as more organic and engaged users are attracted through this content. Authenticity is perhaps the biggest benefit from this trend. Now that EM content takes selling out of the equation, value driven discoverability is leading to greater brand authenticity for customers. Brands themselves are getting much more serious about who they are, what they stand for and what they are building. And of course, community building using EM practices is much easier vs that through traditional, shallow, low retention influencers marketing, ads and viral content. All in all, brands that leverage this trend to build long term, valuable IPs will be the clear winners. Excited to see this unfold! #content #marketing #brands #startups #founders #editorial
