“I have Down Syndrome and it is the least interesting thing about me.” Madison Tevlin starred in a recent viral campaign raising awareness about the assumptions of those with Down Syndrome, and we had the privilege of meeting her in the FQ Interview Studio. The campaign shares,“Assume that I can, so maybe I will.” Marta Sodano, an Italian woman with Down syndrome, said, “The whole point of this video is to end those stereotypes of people living with Down Syndrome. Many times, people with disabilities are presumed to be unable to care for themselves or unable to make their own decisions and that’s not the case.” Our unconscious biases and assumptions of those with Down Syndrome shouldn’t determine their reality. Empower someone to fulfill their potential... and they probably will. Madison’s confidence, spirit, and encouragement are contagious! Don’t forget: “Be powerful, be bold, be brave. Make it normal.”

"Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right."

Amazing! 🤩 It's inspiring to see Madison challenge stereotypes about Down Syndrome. I have an uncle who is 60 years old; he may not be as independent, but he's just as happy and confident as Madison. The most important reminder is to see abilities and potential rather than limitations. Empowerment is key—assume capabilities, not limitations.

My brother Tom had Downs, he lived a long productive life. Worked, had his own apartment, and had mor common sense than most people. He lived until he was 57. Great health, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Great story Madison.

This is a great example of what we can do if we surround ourselves around people that empower each other and push ourselves to be the best version of us with no limits!!!

The kids with Down's Syndrome intervened earlier and lead an independent life. We being parents of DS Child, Xunairah, are on the ladder for making her Disability to Ability.
