Chief Executive-Lumi.Network. Building Skilled AI-Ready Workforce. Ex-McKinsey. Host: In YOUth We Trust Podcast
How useful is it today to navigate a ship reading the stars? Back in the 15th and 16th century, that was the most sought-after skill for navigators and explorers. Naturally, as society evolves, the skills we need to thrive also change. However, some skills endure the test of time - these are called durable skills. Here are some examples: 👍 Resilience and collaborative problem-solving 👍 Critical thinking and data-driven decision-making 👍 Empathy, or understanding problems from the perspective of those affected by them Whether on a wooden ship to Cape of Good Hope or on a SpaceX mission to Mars, you will need these same skills. Unfortunately, and it pains me to say it, building these durable skills is not the strength of traditional education. It’s often that kids say they gain useful skills only after joining the workforce. At Lumi, we want to equip young people with skills that will stand the test of time in an age of disruption. That’s exactly why we developed the Lumi Summer Program. It’s the world’s first design thinking and AI-assisted entrepreneurship program for kids in three age groups: ▪ 10-14 year-olds ▪ 14-18 year-olds ▪ Over 18s At the end of the program, participants will have: ▪ A digital skills passport to showcase their accredited credentials (AI, design thinking, entrepreneurship skills) ▪ A tech-enabled solution they developed to tackle a real-world problem facing humanity ▪ A certificate accredited by Singapore BioDesign, a Stanford University Global Affiliate Register on our website https://lnkd.in/dzKuY2wd or reach out to Harish Menon for more information and support. P.S. A photo from a pleasant evening with our lovely Luminaries. I’m proud to see them go on fulfil their dreams, whether it’s to study at Berkley, do an internship at Microsoft, start a community-focused NGO, or go to Mars!

💡 Rebeca Lamadrid is the Senior Vice President of the Scholars Program at NobleReach™️. Learn more about her work bridging the gap between innovators and policymakers at NobleReach and White House Presidential Innovation Fellows, her career journey, and more in her #profile in TheBridge Leaders Directory. #TheBridgeLeaders Q. How are you currently bridging the gap between #innovation and #regulation? At NobleReach Foundation we focus on turning passion into action by connecting exceptional technical, scientific, and entrepreneurial talent with opportunities to make a real impact in government and beyond. We offer pathways like internships, fellowships, and Embedded Entrepreneurs in government-funded startups, providing critical training and mentorship along the way. Our goal is to nurture talent at every stage and channel it into lasting contributions to our nation. Q. Job advice in three words? Collaboration, Adaptability, Purpose. Q. What can #innovators learn from #policymakers? Through our NobleReach Scholars program, innovators spend one to two years within government agencies, working on challenges of great importance to the nation. They gain hands-on experience and connect with senior policy leaders through multidisciplinary programming in Washington, DC. This combination of practical work and mentorship provides a deep understanding of the policy making process and equips them with skills and connections needed to drive meaningful change in tech, science, and entrepreneurship, both within and beyond the public sector. Q. What can policymakers learn from innovators? During my time leading the Presidential Innovation Fellow program - and now at NobleReach - I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative impact that tech talent can bring to the public sector. Policymakers can learn from innovators the value of agility, cross-sector collaboration, and the integration of diverse perspectives to address complex challenges. Innovators bring a mindset of rapid iteration and learning from failure, which can lead to more effective solutions in areas like cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology. Programs like the NobleReach Scholars Program are crucial for bridging the gap between innovation and public service, placing early-career tech professionals in roles where they can make a tangible impact. This not only enhances government capabilities but also inspires a new generation of technologists to engage in public service, creating a more responsive and innovative public sector. Much more with Rebeca: https://lnkd.in/gBRp_Dg9

🌟 Student Associate Spotlight: MiChaela Barker, MBA, MPH 🌟 📚 Introduction Program and Year: MBA, MPH '24 Hometown: East Lansing, Michigan Favorite Thing to Do in New Haven: Walk through local art galleries or the Peabody Museum and get boba tea afterwards 🚀 Motivation to Join CBIT: "I really wanted to intern at Yale Ventures and CBIT because I truly wanted to be more involved with the Yale entrepreneurial environment. As a graduate student, we only have so many years to be directly involved with the Yale community, so I wanted to take advantage of that this summer. Having direct contacts and resources with the various healthcare, entrepreneurial, and professional centers is priceless, and I am so thankful for all of the people that I have met during my time here! It’s also really amazing to be tuned in with what students, faculty, and staff are working on." 💡Opportunities Here : "CBIT provided invaluable mentorship and funding opportunities, allowing me to work on cutting-edge healthcare projects and collaborate with industry leaders. The autonomy I had regarding my assigned projects allowed me to be very creative in the solutions that I created. Additionally, the weekly networking sessions expanded my familiarity with our professional and entrepreneurial community, which has been incredibly beneficial for my career development." 🧩Impactful Project: "One of the largest tasks that I had was surrounding the marketing strategy for CBIT and its annual hackathon. I pitched a new logo design, website design, a social media content calendar, and a social media branding package, as well as outreach strategies for students, faculty, and staff to join the hackathon executive committee. During my time on these projects, I learned to always have a diverse set of eyes looking over your work to provide you with various insights and perspectives, as well as always ensuring that you have at least three options when you are proposing a solution. This allows me to easily pivot and combine aspects of my work to create the best product." #YaleVentures #CBIT #StudentSpotlight #HealthcareInnovation #Entrepreneurship #YaleMBA #YaleMPH #BiomedicalEngineering #Yale #Biotech
