#EngagedLibraries promote safer and healthier communities. 🚲 Parents know the worry that comes with their children traveling to school on their own. The Safe Routes to School initiative works nationwide to make it safe, convenient, and fun for children to walk and bicycle to and from their classrooms. And beyond safety, there are many health benefits to increasing physical activity for youth. More than 10 libraries are participating in the Iowa Safe Routes to School by hosting bike rodeos to offer traffic safety education, including in rural areas. Along with community partners, the libraries are helping youth learn about cycling safety, hand signals, how to wear a helmet, and more. With libraries at the heart of the community, programs like this help make for safer and healthier places to live. 📲 We want to how your library promotes safety for youth. 🐕🦺🌐Today, January 4th, 2024, is #WorldBrailleDay, commemorating Louis Braille, who invented this tactile writing and reading system for the blind in 1824. #Braille is a system of 6 raised dots arranged in 2 columns of 3 dots each. Each combination of dots represents a letter, a number, or a symbol.Braille has allowed blind people to access reading and writing, and to participate in social and cultural life in a more complete way. It is an essential tool for the inclusion and participation of people with visual impairments. On World Braille Day, we want to remember the importance of this communication system and the need to ensure that everyone has access to knowledge, regardless of disability. At Farmigea, we are committed to making our products as accessible as possible to everyone. Children's growth depends on socialization and enjoyment.
