🌇 We are incredibly proud of the exceptional work that the AGS Airports team consistently delivers, and we are absolutely thrilled to witness their dedication being celebrated at the prestigious Scottish Transport Awards last week. It was a moment of great joy as Glasgow Airport secured the Airport of the Year title for the second consecutive year, and Project CAELUS was honored with the Most Innovative Transport Project award. TEESSIDE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT RECORDS PROFIT “This is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the huge amount of hard work by all our staff to bring in new passengers, make the Teesside experience the very best it can be and develop our airport as a great location for businesses.” Teesside International Airport has reported its first profit since 2012 after enjoying its highest passenger numbers in more than a decade due to high demand for flights to Spain, Portugal and Turkey. This, combined with progress on developing the airport’s business park, including a new Northside hangar to house aircraft painting company Airbourne Colours Ltd, has enabled the airport’s return to profitability. The success comes on the back of the airport being crowned 2023 UK and Ireland Airport of the Year and has been delivered well ahead of its financial plan. Read more from Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen and Phil Forster, Teesside International Airport managing director, as they herald the “fantastic achievement” and look to revise the airport’s 10-year financial sustainability plan to ensure it can continue to “stand on its own two feet”: https://lnkd.in/eJerbj9z Tees Valley Combined Authority #NET #northeasttimes #businessnews #TeessideAirport #TeesValley #airport #Teesside #profitability #makingconnections #drivingconversations

Member for Bunbury and Minister for Regional Development; Disability Services; Fisheries; Seniors and Ageing
🌟 #ICYMI #2023Highlights: Last year the Cook Government partnered with the City of Busselton and other stakeholders to start developing a business case for further expansion of the Busselton Margaret River Airport ✈️ The appointment of KPMG to undertake the new business case, followed significant State Government support to secure two direct Jetstar Airways Australia flight routes between Busselton and the Eastern States, which have unlocked new opportunities for investment and job creation. Our Government has already invested $3.6 million towards the construction of a temporary arrivals hall to enable the commencement of a Regional Passenger Transport service. There was also a further $1 million invested following the commencement of the commercial air services to and from the Eastern States for temporary terminal expansion at the departures lounge, including an additional 250 car bays. It is exciting to see the growth in direct flights from the East coast to the South-West of Western Australia, which has provided a welcome boost for tourism operators and small businesses in the region. This truly is a great example of what can be achieved when State Government, Local Government and industry work together 👏👏👏 Rita Saffioti Jane Kelsbie MLA Hon. I was delighted to represent London Gatwick at the launch of Sustainable Aviation’s Manifesto for UK Leadership in Parliament this week. The manifesto reiterates our industry’s unwavering commitment to achieving net zero aviation by 2050. This crucial initiative outlines a roadmap for how the next Government can ensure that the UK leads the world in sustainable aviation by accelerating and driving policy support for UK Sustainable Aviation Fuel production, airspace modernisation and the development of zero carbon aircraft. It is clear that airlines, engine manufacturers, fuel providers and airports across the UK and further afield all share the same goals. With a collaborative industry-wide approach, alongside significant investment and government backing– net zero is within our reach. https://lnkd.in/epBw3BQM

⚠ Update: Cairns Airport Reopened The team at Cairns Airport, with support from a number of external businesses, have worked throughout today (Mon 18th Dec) to pump water out, clear and inspect the runway, along with its lighting and infrastructure. The airport has advised the runway is now clear and the runway lighting is operational, so the aerodrome is serviceable for aircraft movements. Airlines will now assess their own flight operations and procedures to determine when they can recommence services at Cairns Airport. Cairns Airport is still advising customers to contact their airline directly for information about specific flights, particularly if they have a service booked tomorrow (Tuesday 19th Dec). Please check your relevant carrier or the websites of airports in the affected region for any changes to your travel, and if your travel booking is impacted, please contact your dedicated Travel Manager. #alert #important #update #cairns #businesstravel #smes #fcbt

Fascinating in-depth briefing by BBC Scotland’s Douglas Fraser on demand drivers at Edinburgh Airport: 📈 Passenger numbers have rebounded from 65m in 2021 to 276m in 2023 (almost back at 2019’s 300m). 🛫 Load factor %age is back up in the 80s. 🇬🇧 Edinburgh is close to overtaking Heathrow as the busiest airport for domestic UK passengers, at 4.3 million last year to Heathrow’s 4.6 million (though only 1 in 17 of its passengers are on domestic UK routes). 🚵♀️ Leisure travel now accounts for 2/3 of passengers (business used to make up half). 💷 Leisure travellers spend more in the airport terminal than business travellers. 🚉 Only 38% of air passengers are using public transport to get to/from the airport, putting pressure on the roads network. 🏴 Edinburgh Airport’s recovery, aided by the capital’s globally renowned brand, has outperformed Glasgow Airport’s. #CMSlaw #futurefacinglaw #hotels #Scottishhotels #tourism #Scottishtourism

Record-breaking summer air travel in 2024: Smoother operations and improved airports As the summer of 2024 in the northern hemisphere wraps up, air traffic numbers for Europe and the U.S. show a remarkable recovery, surpassing pre-pandemic levels for the first time since COVID-19. The summer peak confirmed a surge in demand, especially driven by leisure travel and low-cost airlines. The U.S. experienced record-breaking air travel and despite the surge, there were fewer flight cancellations and delays, thanks to improved coordination between airlines and government agencies. Airports also saw significant enhancements, making travel smoother for millions of passengers. In Europe, the recovery has been uneven, with only about half of European airports fully regaining their pre-COVID passenger numbers. While the busiest summer ever recorded is now behind us, challenges remain for the sector as it faces potential disruptions in the months ahead. The Largest Airport in the United States 🛫 Did you know that Denver International Airport (DEN) in Colorado is the largest airport in the United States and one of the biggest in the world? - Spanning over 33,000 acres, DEN is nearly double the size of the next largest airport, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). - It serves as a major hub for both domestic and international flights, with 24 airlines operating out of the airport and offering non-stop flights to over 200 destinations worldwide. - Despite its size, DEN is also one of the busiest airports in the US, handling over 33 million passengers in 2022 alone. - The airport is also a leader in sustainability, with a goal of becoming net-zero carbon by 2040. DEN is an impressive example of American ingenuity and a testament to the country's strong aviation industry. #DenverInternationalAirport #LargestAirport #USA
