3 differences between Singapore and New York (not representative of the rest of the U.S.): 1. While in many cultures, people don’t always say what they mean, there’s a culture of direct communication in NY to drill down to the value anyone can bring (instead of getting into the details and technicalities from the start). 2. Not taking too much time is the way to show you care in NY, whereas giving people time is the way you show you care in Singapore. That’s why 30-min zoom calls are common in NY, whereas 1-hour in-person meetings are common in Singapore. The great transport infrastructure (having barely any traffic congestion) in Singapore also makes it easier for people to meet up. 3. Drivers in Singapore have improved their skills sharing the roads with pedestrians and cyclists, but the skills that drivers in Manhattan have is next level - dealing with pedestrians walking out into the streets all the time. Even so, general safety is still the best in Singapore. I’ve seen more socially-deviant people over the past months in New York (photo in comments) than over my entire life in Singapore (read more about Singapore in the link shared by Jacqueline Poh below) If you enjoyed this post, please take 1-2 minutes to do this 10-question survey about the venture community and share the link : https://lnkd.in/dksDCt-v
