Copa América 2024 final preview: Argentina vs Colombia. 🏆 The battle for the title of the 48th edition of the Copa América is on! 💥 Will Argentina claim a record-breaking 16th title, or will Colombia claim their second-ever Conmebol Copa América title? 🥇 This Sunday, the three-week-long CONMEBOL Copa América comes to an end at the Hard Rock Stadium. A 65,000-capacity stadium and befitting venue for the continental contest dubbed 'Rocking the Continent.' Led by eight-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi, tournament favourites Argentina will unsheathe their swords against Colombia for the continent's ultimate football prize. Despite failing to surpass their total xG in the group stage, La Albiceleste won all three of their games before heading straight into the quarterfinals. Ecuador proved to be a tough nut to crack, but a 4-2 win via penalties got Scaloni’s men over the line before putting Canada aside in a 2-0 semi-final win. Colombia, on the other hand, surpassed their total xG from the group stage, where they finished as leaders, before picking Panama apart in a 5-0 quarterfinal win. A feisty, event-laden 1-0 semifinal win over Uruguay, despite marshalling on with ten men for the entire second half, ensured they reached the final. Now, they will be looking to take the most prestigious scalp of the tournament. While Argentina remains unbeaten in the last three games against Colombia, they have only won once, that being their third win in eight games against La Tricolor [3W, 4D, 1L]. This weekend, they will be out for another win in an attempt to earn a record 16th Copa America title. It promises to be exciting! Will Messi lead Argentina to successive major international trophies, or will a dogged Colombia stop them in their tracks? #CopaAmerica2024 #CopaAmerica #Football #Soccer #Sportsdata #CopaAmerica2024Final #CopaAmericaFinal #FootballAnalysis #FootballAPI

Argentina secured their place in the final with a 2-0 win against Canada, featuring standout performances from Julian Alvarez and Lionel Messi. Colombia, which last lifted the Copa América trophy in 2001, is eager to secure their second title, having previously finished fourth in 2004 and third in both 2016 and 2021. Name: Wagner Pina Club: GD Estoril Praia, currently 15th in Liga Portugal Age: 21 Height: 1.80m Position: Right Wing Back Preferred foot: Right Nationality: Cape Verdean Contract: Until 30/06/27 Market Value: €2M He is a right wing back who fits perfectly with modern football. Fast pace, great offensive projection, very strong in offensive transitions, good technique, and on top of all this, he is extremely competent defensively. Also, he’s strong in pressing moments due to his physical abilities. In his team’s offensive phase, he plays as a winger, but in the defensive phase, he drops back to help in the defensive process. - Has played a total of 508 minutes across 8 match, scoring 1 goal and averaging a match rating of 6.78, which ranks him 5th overall in his team. Cape Verdean international. Featured in Sofascore’s matchday 8 team of the week. - Passing accuracy of 80%, averaging 17.5 passes per match. Crossing accuracy of 25%, completing only 0.3 crosses per match, so far. - He ranks 7th in the league for tackles, with 22, and is joint 16th in interceptions with 12. As for duels, he wins 58% on the ground and 22% of aerial duels. - Last season, he played 1,104 minutes in 22 matches, averaging a match rating of 6.64. This already shows the improvement he’s made in a couple of months, not only in match ratings but also in almost every single stat. Though he has a few aspects to improve, such as decision-making and crossing, I see him as a very promising young talent, with a career trajectory similar to Tiago Santos, who now plays for Lille and just a couple of seasons ago was at Estoril. The French market seems to be well-suited for his next step. Another reason to believe in Wagner Pina’s future is the fact that he comes from humble clubs and has adapted very well to different competitive levels, while Tiago Santos, per exemple, was part of Sporting CP’s academy, which provides advantages in the development and growth of players.
