Hi, my company, Sunshine Consulting, hosts Team-Building Cocktail and Mixology Experiences. Virtual and In-Person.
The Secret to Cocktail Magic: It's All About Balance! ✨ Ever wonder how bartenders whip up those consistently delicious cocktails? It's all about the magic formula: spirit, citrus, and sweet in perfect harmony! Here's the key to unlocking your inner mixologist: The Golden Ratio: 2 oz Spirit: This is your base, the heart of the drink. Gin, vodka, tequila, rum - the possibilities are endless! 3/4 oz Sweet: Simple syrup, liqueurs, flavored syrups - add a touch of sweetness to round out the flavors. 3/4 oz Citrus: Freshly squeezed lime, lemon, grapefruit - a burst of citrus brightens the drink and cuts through the spirit. Pro Tip: Measure it Out! ⚖️ Using a jigger or bar spoon ensures consistent flavor every single time. No more "eyeballing" it and ending up with a cocktail that's too sweet or sour. The Shake-Up: Combine all your ingredients with ice in a shaker, give it a good shake (think rockstar, not sleepy arm swing), and strain into a fresh ice-filled glass. Voila! A perfectly balanced masterpiece ready to impress your taste buds (and maybe your friends). Now get mixing and share your creations! Margarita, an iconic tequila-based cocktail, is the go-to drink for more than 50% of all Americans. But do you know the colorful story behind its origin? This National Margarita Day, join us as we explore the history of this tart and tangy cocktail that nails four out of the five human tastes. 1936: First mention of Tequila Daisy (margarita translates to ‘daisy’ in Spanish), considered to be a precursor to the now-famous drink. The bartender, Henry Madden, told a reporter “I grabbed the wrong bottle” [for gin daisy], but “the customer was so delighted that he called for another and spread the good news far and wide.” 1937: The Picador appeared in Café Royal Cocktail Book by William James “Billy” Tarling. It was a heady drink made from tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. 1939: Charlie Connolly, in The World Famous Cotton Club: 1939 Book of Mixed Drinks, improved the existing recipe by turning it into a “Tequila Sour”. He called for serving the tequila-based cocktail in a salt-rimmed glass, garnished with a lime wedge. 1953: The first mention of “margarita” was recorded in the December 1953 issue of Esquire. It was named “Drink of the Month”, attached with a recipe that called for tequila, Triple Sec, and lime or lemon juice served in a salt-rimmed glass. 1956: Vogue featured margarita in its “People are Talking About” column. As to who invented it, there have been many claims but no definite answer. Until that’s substantiated, we’ll just continue sipping on our Margaritas, will you?

Infusion Inspiration: Tea & Novelty beverage ! Ah, the world of novelty beverages! As a tea taster, I must admit, it's always amusing to witness the latest fads in liquid concoctions. While some may consider tea as the elixir of tranquility, others seem determined to turn it into a circus act. Picture this, you walk into a trendy cafe, only to be bombarded with an array of novelty beverages that could easily double as science experiments. From matcha-infused, unicorn-inspired frappuccinos to bubble tea with more toppings than a pizza, it's enough to make even the most seasoned tea connoisseur raise an eyebrow. But fear not, loyal tea drinkers, for amidst the chaos of fruity infusions and exotic blends, there's a certain charm to the tried and true. A well-steeped Earl Grey, with its subtle notes of bergamot, doesn't need to perform acrobatics to win hearts. It simply whispers, "I've been here for centuries, darling." In the grand ballroom of beverages, where novelty tries to outdo tradition, let's raise our teacups in a toast. Here's to the audacious dance of flavors, the delicate pirouettes of tea leaves, and the daring leap into the unknown with every sip. May your tea always be steeped in irony and served with a side of whimsy, for in this world of eccentric elixirs, there's always room for a sarcastic salute to the steeped wonders of life. #TeaLovers #NoveltyDrinks #TeaTime #CreativeCocktails #DrinkInnovation #InfusionInspiration

Ever wondered why some cocktails are shaken while others are stirred? Let’s break it down! Shaking a cocktail is all about that vigorous energy. When you shake, you not only mix the ingredients but also chill and dilute your drink faster — think 15 seconds of shaking versus 90 seconds of stirring. Plus, shaking introduces air, giving your cocktail a frothy texture that’s perfect for drinks like Margaritas and Whiskey Sours 💫 On the flip side, stirring is a gentler approach. It’s ideal for spirit-forward cocktails like Martinis and Manhattans, where you want to maintain that crystal-clear appearance. Stirring cools and dilutes the drink without adding air, resulting in a smooth, silky texture that showcases the flavors of high-quality spirits 🌟 So, next time you're behind the bar, remember: shake it for froth, stir it for clarity. In addition to the right technique, you also need the right spirits — check out our Lineup: https://lnkd.in/dXyv5cdJ #HollywoodDistillery #ArtisanalSpirits #Mixology #Shaking #Stirring

Ever wondered about the story behind your favorite cocktail? Did you know that the origins of cocktails can be traced back to the early 19th century? The term "cocktail" first appeared in print in 1806, defined as a mix of spirits, sugar, water, and bitters. Today, we enjoy a vast array of creative concoctions, from molecular mixology to modern twists on classic favorites. One interesting fact is that the Margarita🍸, a widely beloved cocktail, might have started from a simple blend of tequila, lime, and an orange liqueur. Some of the most inventive cocktails now feature ingredients like edible flowers, smoked ice, and unusual herbs. Btw have you ever encountered a cocktail that left a lasting impression? Share your most memorable cocktail experiences! 🍸 #CocktailHistory #Mixology #CocktailCulture

🍹 Let It Rolle Sangria The Let It Rolle sangria recipe was created in 2020 for a virtual program at African-American Research Library and Cultural Center. This recipe was imagined for the great legacy of the uncompromising Ester Rolle, and it originates from a Brazilian Sangria recipe. It is filled with the fruit of your liking, whiskey, rum, tequila, red wine and orange liqueur. My recipe highlights the amazing spirits of Uncle Nearest, Inc., Ten To One Rum, Anteel Tequila and McBride Sisters Wine Company Ingredients 1 oz Whiskey (Uncle Nearest 1856) 2 oz Rum (Ten to One) 1 oz Tequila (Anteel) 1 oz Orange liqueur 1 oz Red Wine (McBride Sisters, Black Girl Magic Red Blend) 1/2 cup Seasonal fruit (fresh) Directions 1. Put the fruit, rum & whiskey in a cocktail shaker. Muddle the fruit with the spirits. 2. Add Tequila, Orange Liqueur & fill with ice. 3. Shake & Pour everything into a tall glass. 4. Float red wine on top of the cocktail by slowly pouring it over the back of a bar spoon. NOTE: Fruit plays a major role here, as it does in all sangrias, but it's left up to you as to which fruit to include. Your choice of fruit is the highlight of the cocktail's flexibility. I prefer fruits like oranges, pineapples & strawberries. Enjoy. Drink Responsibly! . #blc #brownliquorconnoisseur #mixology #tastemaker #worklifebalance #worklife #party #virtual #remote #covid #celebration #tbt #throwbackthursday #esterrolle #unclenearest #tentoone #anteel #blackgirlmagic

🎉 It’s Vermouth Day! 🎉 It’s the day of the most important ingredient of Classic and Dry Martini. Yes, it’s the Vermouth Day. Mixologists celebrate this day on the 21st of March every year. For people who do not know Vermouth is a fortified wine or in layman's words a wine with liquor; added to stabilize the mixture. Vermouth sounds Italian and originated in Turin, Italy in the 1780s; however, the word is derived from the German word “Wermut” which is a herb used to give the bitter flavour to Vermouth. The Vermouth is not only a vital ingredient for Martini but for other cocktails as well. The sweet vermouth which is usually red in colour is mixed with other spirits and mixers to make Negroni, Americano, and Manhattan. The white and dry vermouth is used to create the finest cocktails: Classic Martini and Dirty Martini. Let’s Make a subtle and sweet Lilac Cocktail, with Dry Martini Vermouth for the perfect crisp tart flavour. Ingredients • Lilac Syrup • Dry (Extra Dry) Martini Vermouth • Crushed Ice • Lime juice + for garnish • A few blueberries, for garnish Method: Squeeze the lemon juice on a side plate. Then dip the glass into the lemon juice. Delicately shake the glass. Combine the lilac syrup, Dry Vermouth (Martini Vermouth), and lime juice in a shaker. Shake for about 30 seconds for all the ingredients to mix well. And do not hesitate to add more Vermouth. Now all you need is to strain the cocktail in a Coupe Glass. Optionally, set off with a few blueberries and lime slices. Cheers! 🍾
