However, polls have swung right and voters’ priorities have shifted from climate and energy to inflation and defence. In a new report, we preview the elections, the EU parliament’s power dynamics, and potential alliances among its major political groups.

Europe has voted 🇪🇺The centre seems to be holding yet the legislative work in the European Parliament will not become any easier in this mandate with more seats on the right of the spectrum. 🇪🇺At the same time, EU capitals are also heavily impacted by these elections, with governing parties in Germany, France, Spain and Austria losing support at home. 🇪🇺The EU’s biggest challenge after these elections will be to address populism and deal with the power struggles between progressives and the radical right. #EUElection2024
