I'm eager to see more research on the impact it could have on the overall well-being of individuals and families. During my MBA program in Organizational Leadership, I focused on similar concepts, exploring how changes in work structure can enhance overall well-being and productivity. I believe that having more time for personal pursuits, family, and leisure activities can lead to happier, healthier individuals and stronger communities, and in return, happier and more productive employees. For me, this isn't just about statistics or economic theory—it's about recognizing the value of both empirical evidence and personal experiences. I believe that a shorter workweek would afford us more than just extra leisure time; it would offer a chance to step off the relentless treadmill of work-related stress, to prioritize our health, nurture personal relationships, and create more cherished memories with our loved ones. When I envision my life beyond my career, I want to look back on a tapestry woven not just with professional achievements, but with the richness of experiences shared with family and friends. I want to be able to say that I served my career well, but more importantly, that it also served me—that it allowed me the time and freedom to cultivate a fulfilling life outside of work. I'm passionate about my career and contributing to the greater good, but I firmly believe that self-care and personal fulfillment shouldn't be sacrificed on the altar of productivity. It's about finding a balance that's not just meaningful but liberating—a balance that acknowledges the intrinsic value of our lives beyond the confines of the workplace. I'm lucky to work for a company that embraces flexibility, and for that, I am grateful. But this isn’t just about me. It’s about giving everyone the same opportunity of freeing flexibility and more time to nurture the one life they were given. Interested to see where this goes...

There’s plenty of talk about the state of employee retention and satisfaction, but these numbers in Forbes are interesting: job satisfaction is the highest it's been since 1987. 📈 The article lists flexible working, strong leadership and increased autonomy as three of the key drivers of a happier workforce, and I couldn’t agree more. What do you think? https://lnkd.in/d2rfXDei Join me at the Vistage EMEA Summit on November 25th to find out how you can put these principles into action to put your recruitment and retention on steroids! https://lnkd.in/daWEXh_S

Spending my Easter Monday, surrounded by boxes (just moved house!) but putting off that necessary work by finishing off my judging work for this years Office Management Awards. I entered in to this thinking it would be easy - WRONG. So very wrong! I think it might be easy if you're detached from the environment, but when you try to achieve the same thing as these nominees in your work life, it's so hard to judge them on it! To be fair minded, there has to be a little detachment though, and I've tried my best there. It's been emotional in a way, as one minute, I've got my head in my hands thinking were they right for this particular award, or am I just not seeing it....to literally shouting, YES, they absolutely get it, 100% nailed it! It's those moments that really motivate me to keep going, to see these shining examples of people within Office Management doing amazing things every day, sometimes in trying circumstances. Some people aren't so lucky, like myself, to work for forward thinking companies, so making any beneficial changes is often arduous for them, and the fact they keep going because it is the right thing to do is inspiring. I can tell you that, if you're ever asked to be a judge for something like this in your career - do it - but be prepared to be hit by A LOT of thoughts and feelings. I've been through the 'Am I really good enough to be doing this?' all the way through to 'OMG I can't wait to meet this person at the awards, they sound freaking awesome!'. It's too late to nominate for this year, but next year nominate your OM for the awards - it's so valuable, and knowing that they are appreciated makes it all worthwhile. https://lnkd.in/eYiSY-EH
